On the right, click on Virginia.
From the Virginia list, click the city nearest Stanley.
From that screen, click PETS and add your classified ad.
If they're free, you may also want to click on FREE and place the ad there, too.

On the far right side of the craigslist main page (which is set on San Fransisco) there are all of the states. Select Virginia. Then it will bring up a bunch of big cities in Virginia for you to choose which one is closest to Stanley. Then it will bring up all the topics. Choose Community > Pets. Good luck :)

Unless you are in SF you need to chose your location because they have them all over the world. The go to classifieds and if I were you, I would put in in several areas.
Good Luck!
Just remember there's a lot of weirdos in Craigslist.

I believe the whole world is signed on to San Fransisco until (near the welcome page) you change that to a city nearer to you. Once you select your city, you can narrow it slightly to neighborhood. The settings should stay that way till you change them again.

craigslist has a locations section - each major city with it's own listing.
For example - the site addresses are
city.craigslist.org
or
chicago.craigslist.org
cincinnati.craigslist.org
etc.

I've never had that problem when posting on cragislist. Are you already in your location when you try to post? Try that, and it should work.
