Because it's quick, it's cheap, it's available everywhere, and you can put anything from veggies to meat to fruit on it. But not fish - anchovies are an abomination, and should be banned forever.

You got your breads, fruits & vegetables, and dairy. It has salt, it's sometimes sweet, it's savory -- all those things wrapped into one, plus it comes in perfect portions that are easy to handle & consume with or without silverware or plates.
