They will usually buy them at what they get them for a wholesale price
so my guess is, if they sell a betta for $ 4 they will buy the actuall fish for $0.50-1.50 depending on the size

Hope that helps
Good luck

It's against policy for petsmart or petco to buy fish they can take it for free. and a family owned place may not even take it since they usually have like 10 bettas they need to sell. You best luck if the betta looks at least good is to put it up for ebay or craigslist. With pictures.

And even then unless the betta is super good lucking it would go for $1-4

petco and petsmart wont buy fish. its their policy to only deal with their corporate supplier. unfortunately they don't go for much, maybe less than a dollar each at some smaller chains. I would definatley try ebay if you have some good looking fish, for some reason people buy them at higher than store prices there. dont forget about your local paper either. bettas aren't hard to care for and some smaller stores who don't even deal with fish may take some on at a good price.

they go for about 5$$ in the store so i would call a pet store and ask them if they would buy yours pet stores usually buy fish from a whole seller best bet is to put an Ad in the news paper and sell them for about 3$$ so that people will buy them

Probably 50¢ store credit. Typically the cost $1-2 wholesale.
