In most cases white smoke means that you have oil burnoff. Not a big deal, could be a little too much in the oil sump or just some excess burning off.

Hopefully this helps you out!

Take care

It's common to have some white exhaust at start up. It's caused by unburnt fuel due to lack of heat. It could be caused by bad glow plugs or a faulty glow plug control module if the amount of white smoke has significantly increased lately.

If the white smoke problem is there after the engine has heated up properly (make sure to check it reaches correct operating temperature), you should check the injectors.

In the end, almost all cases of white exhaust smoke are caused by incomplete combustion - very often caused by bad injector spray pattern. Other possible faults: low engine compression, late injection timing or injection pump problems

you probably did not point out something on the subject of the air temperature till now you acquire into the vehicle. exchange into it nippy, frosty, or warmer than the placement "downstairs"? in case you will see your breath, you will see the vehicle"s breath. that's condensation from moisture interior the exhaust pipe/muffler. for this reason exhaust structures rust out. It takes approximately 5 miles of driving to get all the moisture out of your exhaust. Watch different vehicle tailpipes (it particularly is lots greater handy than watching your person as you tension) some will smoke a whitish gray and a few will smoke blue(oil burner), some black(choke is caught on or diesel under load so the black is extra gasoline burning interior the exhaust pipe rather of the engine, and a few won't show something because of the fact the engines are warmed up long sufficient so as that the moisture is out(however the autos are nonetheless giving off volatile CO2 and poisonous CO on a similar fee because of the fact the seen smoke ones. old vehicle or variety new, in case you burn gasoline you pollute.

I hate to be contrary but I thought white smoke was from water in the cylinder and was usual at start up because of condensation in the cylinder. If it persists you've got a cooling problem. Black smoke is from oil or incomplete combustion. I'm certainly no expert and I'm asking not arguing.

white smoke on diesel engines is un-burnt fuel. has the engine a miss-fire? I would check the injectors first.
