They will grow in stages. For the first 5-8 years, roughly, they will grow pretty quickly- up to about 6-10".

Then, there is another burst as they try for max size over the next 5-8 years, up to about 15-18". It will slow down for the next 10-60 years.

This is a BIG species- do your research, make good plans, have a plan for the adult or for 20 years down the road, and don't start if you cannot do it right for the adult.
