the reason that fossils are dated back millions of years is becuase the biblical flood overturned the entire earth's floor, leaving scientists to make many mistakes in dating them.

Most inteligent Americans and especially college graduates are rejecting evolution as a very unviable theory due to lack of evidence....

"The intelligent layman has long suspected circular reasoning in the use of rocks to date fossils and fossils to date rocks. The geologist has never bothered to think of a good reply"
(J. O'Rourke in the American Journal of Science).

.Read here for a great article on the unreliability of decay rates and radiometric dating methods.

Sorry if this sounds mean, but... that's about the most unintelligent thing ive seen posted in a week.
The earth isnt millions of years old, its billions of years old. Scientific dating doesnt rely on where fossils are found. It relies on nuclear decay which is continuous and unchanging. The age of items come with a certain + or - from the technique inaccuracies, but for instance a rock may be 6.4 million + or - 100 thousand years old. Theres no chance the rock was formed 300 years ago. Just because you werent here, and none of your living relative were here, doesnt mean that the earth didnt exist 300+ years ago.
Before trying to refute proven facts, learn a bit about how they are obtained. Once you understand the theory of how they work, then you may try to find flaws in the logic.

Here's a tip, It's better to refrain from saying anything if you think it will make you sound stupid, than it is to go ahead prove that you are stupid by saying it.

Two points:

1. Floods do not overturn continent-sized layers of rock. It just doesn't happen.

2. Fossils are not dated by their depth in the dirt. Their ages are found using radiocarbon dating. During its lifetime, an organism's carbon-14 content remains steady since it constantly exchanges carbon with its environment. Once it dies, the carbon exchange stops, and the carbon-14 slowly decays. By measuring the concentration of carbon-14 in a fossil, the date at which it died can be measured (up to around 60,000 years ago, the limit of accuracy).

I do not have to be a scientist to know that our Earth
in billions of years old. My common sense tells me so.
When I only read that the stars the universe is so
endless and it takes billions of years for a light to
reach us from different Galaxy's then there is no
question our Earth is only couple of years old.

But I will assure you one thing our Earth will not reach
the next million years. On this theory I am prepared
to take a bet.

There are fossils that are found in caves which water never touched before. They dated back into millions of years ago.
there is also carbon dating, carbon inside material break down at a certain speed. Ice man was perserved in the mountains by the cool temperatures. And that man that was found by two woodcutters. He was perserved by the chemicals in the air. Using carbon dating, they were able to find out when he died and what he ate for breakfast the day he died.
Another thing is that earth had one large land mass a long time ago. The continents move at a speed of two centimenters each year. If you just look at Australia, it must have took thousands, if not millions of years for it to get so far away from the main land mass.
Another thing, fossils of tropical plants were found in Australia.

I am a paleontologist who has published 9 technical papers. There is no evidence in support of evolution that has not been a hoax, circular reasoning, or circumstantual. Read Icons of Evolution by Nathan Wells. Carbon14 only dates things back to 50 thousand years. Other radioactive methods are never used to date a fossil, they only date volcanic rocks and they have been proven to be very inaccurate. They date rocks at millions of years, even when the date of the rock is known to be only a few years old. However, dinosaur bones have been dated by my collegues using carbon 14, and they come out 30 to 40 thousand years old. If they were millions of years old there should be no carbon 14 left much less be able to date anything. And carbon 14 is found throughout the geologic column. Rocks are formed by sediment that has to be deposited rapidly in hours or days because sediment cannot remain suspended in wate for very long. And when there are fossils, they also require rapid burial or they are scavenged, or disintegrate in days or weeks.

It's not necessary to believe in a 6000 year old Earth to have faith. That number is nowhere in the Bible, it's a silly calculation by an Anglican Bishop in the 1600s.

A great many scientists are men of faith who also believe it has been proven that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old.

The calculations of lineage in Genesis ; the Bible, places the earth at approximately 6000 years old. I didn't do the calculations, I remember it from reading another answer on Y/A.

Check out this link about Dinosaurs in the Bible.

You could probably (and I did for you) search on Y/A for a similar question - use the mentioned link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkXodp8ttGbd7zES4lNDeAAjzKIX?qid=20060725182555AAfn4Fj

Think about this.
If there are fossils 100 million years old and some say much older Than that. Think that in some areas there is a major earthquake every 1000 years or even less. Those fossils don't have a chance.
In 1 million years that's 1000 quakes and in 100 million years 100,000 major quakes and a bunch of smaller ones. That's not even considering animals borrowing, erosion, volcanoes, asteroids and who knows what else.
The idea the earth and fossils are as old as we are told is so far off it isn't even funny.
The laws of probability are so against what they try to teach us. I'd can't imagine any thinking person accepting what we have been taught any more.
Good question!

The person claiming to be a paleontologist isn't much of one. You would have to far less than I do about biology and geology to believe the earth could be thousands of years old. It is in fact billions. I have seen layer upon layer of sediment forming millions of years. I took my geology in South Dakota where you can see a progression of rock from 2 billion years (granite) to the badlands (10,000,000). To ignore the evidence is your choice but don't pretend to have any evidence for your assertion and that certainly goes for the supposed paleontogist as well.

The "biblical flood" could have been a global event like an asteroid collision that caused massive waves, flooding and climate changes.
