All the things that are happening. Bush and his nuclear sabre rattling at Iran, etc. Craig is the least of these. Stop letting them distract us from what is truly important.

For all of you who attacked me on the Republican hypocrisy. Were it anyone from a different party who tried to stand behind and enforce their idea of family values I would have said the same thing. But right now it is the Republican party doing this.

This is all the politics of distraction, that is the purpose here. Feed your Senator with way too much baggage to ever be re-elected to the wolves.

This along with recent resignations will distract everyone from all other issues that are more important.

Rove learned well from people like Lee Atwater.
Do you think he is not somehow involved in all of this?

You're being entirely logical--but politics is not logical.

Granted, in and of himself, Craig is not important--but neither was MarkFoley last year.

However--here's a lessonin "realpolitique"--what is important in political contests is not the facts, it is what will get or lose votes--because that is what determines who gets elected.

Foley, las tyear, was simply a pervert who got caught. But that scandel shiftedthe momentum of the campaign because it discretided the "moral values"stance of the Republicans. Craig--just more of the same.

But that is how/whi many people decide to cast their ballots--whether they should or not. And THAT makes it important.

In addition, there is an added factor in the current political contests. Craig is only one of a growing number ofsupposedly "conservative, moral/family values" politicians that have been caught . It has clearly reached the point that the "moral values" claim that the Republicans--by their own choice--rest their credibility on--is nothing but posturing hypocrisy. Further, it has reached the point that, together with the many financial corruption cases, it shows not just individual wrongdoing, but a culture of deviance and corruption running all through the Repubblican party. And THAT--for any American, regardles of their political preferance, is an important issue by any standard.

Besides, after years of listening to the neocons belittle everyone who dared to disagree with them as "immoral" and "unpatriotic"--its FUN to make them squirm! :)

Well, delphi, I would normally agree. But, I remain stupefied by the number of conservatives in this forum right now trying, beyond all reason, to defend Craig and trash liberals in the process. I keep moving to other questions that have nothing to do with this subject and then become transfixed by the next question I see from a conservative actually trying to defend this hypocrite. We talk about Bush and his sabre rattling every day in this forum and we'll get back to it. But right now? This story just hold so many opportunities to point out the hypocrisy of so many Republicans that it's almost irresistible.

But, I remain chastised and will try to divert my attention elsewhere as you suggest. You are right when it comes right down to it, and I'm a little ashamed to be so happy to keep pointing out the idiocy of their defense of Craig that I keep seeing from these numbskulls.

I believe that what is really important now is to uncover the shroud of "decency" that the Republican party hides behind. Christ never let up in denouncing the hypocrites of his day, and neither should we. Why would we want leaders who say "When I talk about war, what I'm really talking about is peace"? (G.W Bush, 2004).

This party should be taken down bit by bit, as is occurring right now. Three key Republicans have fallen in two weeks. Thank God Almighty that this Party of Hypocrisy is crumbling all around us.

What is the matter, can't take it. I'll bet if the shoe was on the other foot and it were the Democrats getting needled you would be there in the thick of it posting and egging on others. And that would, because of this post make YOU a hypocrite.

Are some people so narrowly focused that they can't multi-task or think about more than one issue? There are plenty of issues but the right seems intent on focusing only on one. The Iraq war.

Bush cannot go to war with Iraq unless he has Congress to appropriate the funding. With all that he wasted by going to war in Iraq I doubt they will give him any so it doesn't matter how much sabre rattling he does. We have been telling people Bush is a war monger for years. We said that in 2000 and people didn't believe us. I hope they have changed their minds.

No, I don't know what you consider important but it might not be important to me. The alternative seems to be endless talk about Michael Vick.

No I think we can beat this Pervert Horse for at least another week.

If issues like this distract them from the nuclear saber rattling, then maybe that's a good thing!

Like the Democrat promises made before the '06 elections. Fiscal Responsibility? (Look up earmarks). Or The party of accountability (Look up Hastings).

Yeah the Democrats are doing what they do best...
