might just be ur body telling u ur doing something really bad for ur baby I hope for ur baby u stop smoking ASAP
its only 9 months outta ur life to stop thinking of just urself when it comes to what goes into ur body

Smoking in pregnancy can affect your baby, not just before birth, but also in the future. Here are some of the effects of smoking while pregnant.

Smoking raises the levels of carbon monoxide in your bloodstream. This reduces the amount of oxygen available to your baby.

When you smoke, harmful chemicals reach your baby.

Nicotine constricts the blood vessels on your side of the placenta, which means oxygen is passed over less effectively to the baby.

The result is the baby grows less well than he might have done, and he'll be born lighter than otherwise. This might make a great difference to his health at birth.

There are also effects on brain development and on the general health of your baby, which have been shown to last into childhood, and even beyond. There is also a great deal of evidence that men who smoke when their partners are pregnant also affect the baby's health - whether or not the woman smokes herself.

please take this seriously for ur baby

well if u knew better than ppl wouldnt have to lecture u sorry but maybe its what u need to hear all this because ur putting urself above ur baby and thats not how a mother should think sorry but ur gonna have to understand that sooner or later hopefully sooner .. other women on here defending ur smoking while pregnant probably did the same or they arent parents themselves and they need to know the facts and also understand baby comes first sorry if u dont like that fact than maybe ur not ready to be someones mom .... sorry for having to say this but its true
also just because some women had babies who where healthy and smoked all the way through doesnt mean u will .. its just a chance u should wanna take with the health of ur unborn.

Yes it's normal, your body is reacting badly to the toxins in the cigarette smoke in an attempt to protect the baby from harm. I know it's very hard to give up smoking, even when you have such a good incentive to do so like being pregnant, so perhaps you can use the nausea and vomiting as extra motivation.

I used to smoke before I had my first child, but when I fell pregnant I found the smell of cigarette smoke completely nauseating. If I'd actually tried to HAVE one myself, I know for a fact that I would have up chucked everywhere, so it wasn't that hard for me to give up!

ok. smokers know the consequenses of smoking and whatnot.
my doctor actually told me when i found out i was pregnant at 8 weeks NOT to quit because it would send my body into shock and therefore send the baby into shock. I'm down to 5 smokes/day from 10-15/day. That's better than nothing.

I am not selfish for smoking while pregnant. I have cut back and am happy with that. Whenever i find myself 'gagging' while having a cig i put it out. it's that simple.

I had to quit drinking alcohol and coffee.......i'm pretty proud of myself.

These rude arsed people...DID SHE ASK how to quit smoking...NO..did she ask for your opinion on whether she should smoke or not,... NOPE..all she asked was about the way the cigarette should or could make her feel during this stage in her pregnancy!

I'm sorry you had to read through all of that to get to mine. Yes, its totally normal to feel sick when trying to smoke a cigarette now. You can call it what you want, but I think its your bodies way of trying to help you not smoke. kinda like a motherly instinct. Just do the best you can. I went from a pack and a half a day to about 7 a day for a week, than about 6 a week etc.. and so on.

I remember feeling just really gross smoking or even at the smell of the smoke. It does go away, for me it was about 15 weeks where I didn't get sick feeling.
I never puked, but I did have the sensation to throw up, and a gag reflex on occassion.

Smoking is a stupid thing to do. I know because I had a heart attack because of smoking. I was fortunate enough to be revived and survive. Smoking when you are pregnant is not only going to harm you but your child as well. I know it is not easy to stop but you need to think of someone beside yourself now. Follow whatever plan works for you but quit before anymore damage is done. I wish you luck and I hope your baby is healthy and happy.

Well, you should quit smoking, but I am not your mom and I know you know how bad it is so let's leave the reprimanding alone. You feel sick becuase you are suffering from morning sickness. The smoking is just making it worse. You may notice that you can't eat or drink certain things because it will make you sick. Coffee did it to me, so I stopped. Drink Ginger Ale when your stomach feels uneasy, that might help.

Thats actually how I found out I was pregnant! I noticed that smoking in the morning made me want to vomit! I took a pregnancy test the next day & found out. It was hard to quit cold turkey after finding out, but you can easily replace that smoking with food when your trying! Good luck to you!

Smoking while pregnant puts both mother's and baby's life at risk. Currently, about 13 percent of pregnant women in the U.S. smoke during pregnancy. If all pregnant women stopped smoking while pregnant, there would be an estimated 10 percent reduction in infant deaths in this country, according to the U.S. Public Health Service. Smoking while pregnant should be a cause for concern. Cigarette smoke contains more than 2,500 chemicals, with nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide thought to be the most dangerous to the fetus.
