I have a difficult time believing that this is authentic homestyle cooking, and yet I see plenty of Latinos eating there.

Is going out for Taco Bell an effort to have an experience remeniscent of home, or is it just a cheap meal that Americans think of as Mexican? How different is it from mama's?

Taco Bell has been selling food in Mexico since 1992, Chumley.

Whether you are Mexican or American, I think it is easy to agree Taco Bell is nothing close to authentic Mexican food. Geez, Taco Bell sells something called a chalupa that is NOTHING like an authentic chalupa.

I doubt that anyone goes to a Taco Bell for any reason more than location, price, and the other food options available (or maybe even the LACK of other food options). Personally, if I want Mexican food, I head out to one of the two nearby authentic style Mexican restaurants, run by true Mexican immigrants, serving true Mexican food. Yum. :-)

And just what fast food restaurant is authentic homestyle cooking? Latinos are no different than anyone else they eat at Taco Bell because they are hungry.
Remeniscent of home....what a joke! This is pretty ignorant.

It is not real or even close to being authentic Mexican food. It is considered TexMex. It is considered a cheap and quick meal. I am sure that it has nothing to do with remembering home. think about that for a minute. Do you think there is a Taco Bell/KFC in Mexico? Do you think that anything in a Taco Bell is like Mexico??

I see Mexicans in the Taco Bell branches in our city when
driving by. We don't use them because their food is so taste-
less now. They used to have flavor. Now they add a hot sauce
at some locations. But it still lacks flavor.
We have a couple local Mexican fast food chains and there's
also Taco Time too. And there are privately owned drive ins.
Maybe you have to live out in the western states to get the
real deal. I know the menus' are longer with more variety.
Not just tacos' and burritos and taquitos. We like a local
chain that serves several choices of combination plates on
their fast food menu. Always Mexican fried rice and refried
beans to go with any entree. They even have Chili Rellanos,
and chicken enchiladas. Now I'm getting hungry. So I have to
stop talking about food LOL.

It's definitely not authentic Mexican cuisine. If there's any Latinos eating there, it's probably because it's cheap and easily available. However, thankfully because I live in an area with a sizeable Mexican American population, there's no need to go Taco Bell - I go to the real taquerias that dot my area, and they're pretty cheap to eat. Heck, the real taquerias give you a choice of meats, typically carne asada (beef, not ground), pollo asado (grilled chicken), carnitas, lengua (tongue), etc.

It's not authentic homestyle cooking at all. But it tastes ok, nothing like what I cook at home. It is like the american version of mexican food. For example the chalupas where I am from are made with fried tortillas dipped in hot homemade salsa sprinkled with cotija cheese and onions served with a side of beans.

Real Mexican food is varied. For example, they have plenty of Seafood in Mexico, but, that is never served at Taco Bell. Poor people in Mexico eat mostly Tamales, but I never saw that served at Taco Bell, either.

If you went to Hamburg, Germany you wouldn't find many hamburgers. And if you went to Italy, you don't see people twirling their spaghetti . No Tarzan in Africa, either. Travel broadens the mind.

The food is not even remotley close to mexican food. The food is ok to snack on. Try the apple caremel empanada. That actually pretty good. Reall cruncy tacos dont even come close to how good they are from home. You could say its just an americanized version of somewhat trying to be mexican.
