Dont worry about past alcohol, cocaine, ciagrette use. Just make sure you dont continue them. Studies show that a single use of cocaine before a woman knew she was pregnant is likely NOT to cause any harm.
Let your doctor know about what you did before you knew you became pregnant. They can do extra tests and ultrasounds to make sure your baby is okay.
Everyoen knows its dangerous to do these things while pregnant. But the thing is, woman dont always know when they are pregnatn until they take a test. Sometimes, they do things tehy shouldnt because they didnt know they were pregnant. This is fine, and try not to worry about it. Continuing these things can be harmful. But i really wouldnt worry about what you did before you knew you were pregnatn. The chance of something happening is very low. Most times, when something does happen, its because teh mother continues doing the things she shouldnt.

You should be okay, and it's good that you stopped as soon as you found out. I think that in the first month or so, the baby is not yet relying on the placenta (which would carry your blood supply and nutrients) for growth. I believe that starts a little later. That's why many times babies are perfectly healthy even though the mother may have misbehaved in some way in the very beginning (before she knew she was pregnant). Obvioulsy, the ideal situation is to behave in a healthy way before, during, and after pregnancy. And...since you not only smoke and drank, but did cocaine...I would be honest and mention this to your doctor when you go in for an exam. They need to know...they may give you extra tests just to make sure everything is okay. Try not to worry too much, chances are the baby is fine. Good luck.

though i have never had an experience with cocaine i can relate to the other two. i found out i was pregnant after a weekend of a lot of drinking and smoking pot & cigarrettes. I too was concerned about what that weekend would do to my child. The best advice to give is to make sure you avoid putting anything into your body that's harmful from this point on. There is a great chance that your baby will be perfectly healthy because my son was. But not only do you need to quit the smoking pot during pregnancy but for good because you are a mother now. some things are not acceptable once you become a parent and that's one of them.

I'm sure this happens a lot. I'm glad to hear that you are being responsible and quitting all of that. I hope you stopped before any damage was done. I doubt weed would do much (nothing is proven yet), but the cigarretes, alcohol, and cocaine are known to cause birth defects. The nicotine and cocaine will over work the baby's heart and the alcohol will slow the central nervous system and weaken the immune system. Cutting all of those out will increase the chances of having a normal baby.
Speak to your doctor to see what else should be cut out of your diet and what kind of suppliments you need.

Holy crap ! is there nothing you didn't ingest that isn't bad for you? Change everything ! There's still time, but don't waste time.
Eat prenatals, get some digestive enzymes to absorb the nutrients. Start taking B-complex Sublingual (at Hi-Health or other health food stores, it's cheap). Nutrients are the key to a healthy baby.
Just be very, very careful with everything you do from here on out. And, of course, a prayer here and there can't hurt. It's a short course to solve a long term potential cost, right?

I went to vegas a few weeks before I found out I was pregnant. My Dr. said she calls the first 6 weeks the all or nothing period. She said if you havn't lost the baby then the baby is fine in regards to what you ingested. I have also heard that you don't share a blood stream with the fetus until 9 weeks....But talk to your Dr. There may be more tests she wants to run because of the drug use. Good luck.

the chances are very good that the baby will be fine but there is always a chance of some defect or mental disability. are you taking folic acid? that is more likely to cause a neural tube defect. many women live a lifestyle not conducive to pregnancy when they don't know they are pregnant (and sometimes when they do know) MOST of the time if you find out early and chose to live a healthier life everything will be fine. i know it's easier said than done but there's nothing you can do to go back and change what happened so just do the best you can from here on out.

Should be very open with your doctor about your activities before you found out you were pregnant. The doctor is the best person that can answer this question. In my opinion the baby will probably be just fine. I did similar things prior to finding out I was preagnant and my son is completely healthy.

It's hard to say. There's a good chance there will be nothing wrong seeing as the baby isn't being fed by the placenta yet, but cocaine is pretty harsh stuff. I know I was drinking and smoking cigarettes before I found out and my baby was okay, but I wasn't doing any illegal drugs.

I understand your worry. I celebrated my best friend's b-day with a few drinks and I was also 5 weeks...that was my first question at my first appointment and the Doc told me not to worry. Well now that you know, just make healthy choices- to answer your question, there's a really good chance your baby is ok...my 6 week old is.
