i began working at a home health care agency and started off at a great salary. I brought in a degree that was unaccreditted but was not aware of this at the time. During my 2 month stay at this job, I realized why I was hired. My 4 yr experience and the fact that this company was being audited and frequently is for foulplay. However, when I refused to participate in the illegal acts my employer (which I have evidence) insisted upon, she threatened to turn me in for bringing in a degree that was not accreditted. I am basically the only white person in the office who was handling the paperwork and I helped her get through the audit by writing false reports. Once she was free of the audit, she threw me out into the feild and reduced my pay and gave me a client who lived one hour away from me in hopes that I would quit. She called Me a white snitch and swore she should have never hired me in the begin. Now I have to pay to work there and she is making it very hard. Any laws agnst?

I am not making any money with the client she gave me b/c of gas. She refuses to give me no more than 15 hrs. a week and has everyone in the office against me. When I told her that writing notes for clients I have never worked for was illegal she told me that people do it all the time and if I didn't want to participate then she could turn me in for bringing in a degree that was not regeristed with the US Dept of Education and say I fooled her. She made me a case manager over 7 clients and had me calling value options and other places acting for another case manager who was not available but for only two days a week. Basically, she told me that I would never find another job in that feild if I turned her in. I have been treated with predjudice remarks and I feel I have no where to turn. What do I do? I am out of money and my job and she is laughing at me.

I wouldn't stay at a job that cut my pay, increased my workload, and coerced me to be an accomplice to fraud.
Working someplace that costs you more than you make to stay employed is never worth it.
Could you find the auditor's contact information and set the record straight? You might get that woman's job, if you want it.
In the meantime, get an accredited degree, if that's actually important in your field. With your years of experience, it should be easy.

I don't reccommend black mail but say if you turn me in, I turn you in. I would cut ties with the evil woman and if she threatens you, you give it right back to her. Having an unaccredited degree isn't that bad. I went to college and got involved in a student group. We didn't like the sexual harraser and total jerk so we started a coup. We got him out of that advisor position and the school actually did background checks on him since we weren't the only ones having a problem with him. He completely lied and didn't even have a degree from where he said and the one he had was unaccredited. Nothing every happened to him besides he got fired. You don't go to jail or anything. The B%@&$* you work for is evil and you need to quit immediately. FYI, don't do anything illegal ever again and you won't be in this position. I'm sure you feel so much regret. I am sad you are in this position. Best of luck.

1. You need to see what you can do to get your degree accredited, and why wasn't it, if you thought that it was? If you went in there knowing this, you probably need to just quietly leave out the back door and find a different field to work in.
2. Your boss can not make work conditions threatening or hostile for you - if you do quit, you probably would have a case to get unemployement - but you would have to be careful, as your employer could come back and say that you were unlicensed to do the stuff that you did, and that would be grounds for immediate dismissal.
3. I think that your only option is to move on and find another job. I would not work under those conditions under any circumstance, as it could all come back on you, and even if she "made" you do it, you could have said no and walked out (I know sometimes we need the money - but jail is not a good alternative to doing something illegal for someone).
Good luck - if you are really worried, and want to continue working in this field, you might try talking to an attorney and see if they have any ideas.

First of all I would start to document everything that has happened, and does happen from this point forward. Such as the dates, what happen, who witnessed it etc.
Second I would go and speak with a attorney. Although your not bringing in alot of cash because of your boss, I would still speak to one. Alot of attorney's, (specially if you sue) will take your case without any money upfront and will just take there cost out of what your awarded.
I wouldn't worry about your degree. She's just using that to keep you quite. Not to mention the fact, SHE hired you.I woul be her responsibility to checked your experience and your education, to make sure you met the requirements
Good luck, and don't let her bully you!.

I would find a lawyer who specializes in employment law. If you can't afford a lawyer, there are governement agencies in place that will help you. The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Comission) can help, but you should start at the state level. Each state has a labor relations board. You can find yours by doing a search on Yahoo. Good luck!
