2. In the folktale of Tom Thumb, Tom had a pair of 7-league boots. When he ran wearing the boots, his stride was 7 leagues long.( A stride is the distance from where one foot hits the ground to where the same foot hits the ground again. A league is equal to 3 miles.) How many miles could Tom run in 50 strides?

1.
Rectangle is 4 ft by 9ft.
Its area is 36 sq.ft.
A square with a 36 sq.ft. area has a 6 ft. side.
Therefore, the perimeter of the square is 6 ft. times 4.
The perimeter of the square is 24 ft.

2.
Each stride is 7 leagues long.
He takes 50 strides.
That is 50 strides times 7 leagues = 350 leagues.

Each league is 3 miles.
So, 350 leagues times 3 miles each league = 1050 miles.

3.
.05512 in. per penny.
For 100,000 pennies, multiply by 100,000:
.05512 times 100,000 = 5512 inches

If you want the answer in feet, divide by 12:
5512 divided by 12 = 459.3 feet

1. Area = 4 x 9 =36 sq. ft
the square with the same area would be a 6 ft by 6 ft square.

2. 7 leagues = 7 x 3 = 21 miles
1 stride = 7 leagues long
50 strides = 50 x 7 = 350 leagues = 50 x 21 miles
= 1050 miles

3. 100000 x .05512 in = 5512 in
5512/12 ft = 459.33 ft

1)Area of the rectangle= 4 x 9=36 sq ft
so area of the square=36 sq ft
so side of the square= sq rt(36)=6 ft
so the perimeter of the square=2(6+6)=24 ft
2) 1 stride =7 league=7 x 3 =21 miles
50 stride =50 x 21 =1050 miles ans
3) height =1,00,000 x .05512=5512 in

Area of rectangle = 9*4 = 36
So area of square = s^2 = 36 so s= 6
Perimeter = 4s = 4*6=24ft

7*50 strides = 350 leagues.
350 leagues = 350*3 = 1050 miles

.05512*10^5 = 5,512 inches = 459 1/3 feet

1 area of rectangle = length * width = 36 sq ft.

area of square = (length of side)^2 = s^2 ---> s = sqrt(area)
s = sqrt(36) = 6 ft

2. One stride = 7 leagues = 7 x 3 miles = 21 miles

50 strides = 50 x 21 miles = 1050 miles

3. 0.05512 * 100,000 = 5512 inches

1. first find the area of the rectangle (length x width)
4x9= 36. then you need to know what x what gives 36....since all sides of a square have to be the same, the answer is 6. then you multiply 6 by the number of sides. 6x4 = 24. the answer is 24ft

2. you need to multiply the length of the stride (3miles) by the number of leagues per stride (7) getting 21. multiply that by the number of strides and you get 1050

3. just multiply the width by the amount .05512 x100,000, giving you 5512
