He had yet to appoint all of his staff, most of the people heading different departments were leftovers from the Clinton Administration still in charge. Once the Republican nominees were in place from the time of 9/11 to right now the US has not had a single attack on our soil. For those of you who dislike Bush so much how do you explain the fact that he has kept us safe in this country for this long when you hear the tapes and read the statements knowing there are people out there constantly trying to do us harm? We have had no attacks inside the since the members of the Bush administration have been in place. How do you explain that?

The Americans who have died are ones that offer up their lives going to fight in another country so you don't lose yours here.

Have you received tapes and written statements from bees declaring their intent to sting you? If not I don't see how you can say they compare.

It was actually less. During the 42 days the election was debated the Clinton administration refused entrance to the offices for the new administration. Between the election and the 20th of January is when much of the work was done of interviewing candidates. I guess you could say that the Clintons cost the US 42 days of action in the war on terror for politics. Citizen Cope I did research a few years ago with various news sources and found that over 1200 Americans were killed between 1993 and 2001 by islamic terrorists. A few here and a few there. The largest number was in Egypt and they were tourists. Unless you count the military members in Riyad or the USS Cole. Of course if you start counting foriegn nationals then the numbers go into the thousands.

The first World Trade Center bombing took place in February of 1993. We were not attacked by terrorists on US soil again until September of 2001. That's a period of 8 years and 7 months where either the Clinton administration was in place or, as you describe them, his "leftovers". Give credit where credit is due.
There were no concrete steps taken by the Bush administration to prevent terrorism during those first 8 months. This is despite the fact that there were multiple reports issued during that time warning of increased potential for attack.

I don't feel any safer at all from terrorists. Seeing as there has only been a handful of terror plots that succeeded on US soil in history, I don't think you can say the Bush Administration is responsible for keeping us safe. That's like saying I haven't gotten stung by a bee in 10 years so that must mean I'm doing something different, when in fact, I'm not doing anything different.
And how are we safer because we attacked Iraq? The CIA already prooved that Saddam wanted nothing to do with Bin Laden. That said, he had no way of attacking us. His longest range weapon could only reach northern Israel. So while we are "saving thousands of American lives" we are actually killing 3000+ young men who were deployed to Iraq. Not to mention all of the innocent Iraqi civilian lives. Plus, look at all of our allies (they hate us now) who are getting bombed because of our war.
While trying to protect us, Bush stirred up the hornets' nest. Now half the world wants us dead instead of a few radical groups. Thanks, Bush! The "Decider" really made us safer...

Explain that to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Wait though, for a major attack will happen that will usher in martial law.
Go ahead to all who have given me thumbs down. Type in May 9, 2007 President Bush Executive Orders and you will see that he has a plan in place to have total control over the federal government if a "national" emergency occurs anywhere in the U.S.
As far as the Americans who lose their lives over in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are losing them simply because we have invaded another country. We have decided it is our right to occupy another country.
Again, as I said, martial law is coming to the U.S. and sooner than you think. Then we will have no constitutional rights and Congress can't review this order for six months.
Where in the Constitution does it give the President the right to suspend the Constitution?
I agree with Pip. As far as the Oklahoma City bombing is concerned, that was domestic terrorism. You can't throw that into the mix with Al Qaeda.
Timothy McVeigh was wrong for what he did. His reasons for doing what he did were because of the atrocities committed against American citizens in Waco, Texas and with Randy Weaver.
What were these people's offenses? They had guns. Big deal. The last time I checked, it's our second amendment right to bear arms.

How many attacks had Al Queda perpetuated in the US before that?
oh, that's right.. none.... Getting to the US from the Middle East isn't as easy as driving or hopping a train.. it takes a plain or a boat... so you can thank our location for keeping us safe... the same thing that has always... it's the same reason WW I and II didn't make it to here (other than Pearl Harbor.. but they didn't make it back did they now)
Edit: I said by Al Queda

How many took place when Clinton was president? It has nothing to do with who is president, It has to do with good law enforcement from the local level all the way to the Federal level.
A question for you? How many American s have been killed while Bush is in office? I would guess that it is more than Clinton.

IT SEEMS MANY OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE ANSWERED THIS QUESTION HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT
THERE WERE ATTACKS ON U.S. INTERESTS OVERSEAS. THE ATTACKS OCCURRED IN KENYA, TANZANIA, SAUDI ARABIA & ON THE USS COLE. THERE WAS THE FIRST WORLD TRADE CENTER ATTACK. LET'S NOT FORGET OKLAHOMA CITY. WE WILL NEVER KNOW THE REAL REASON FOR THIS ATTACK SINCE TIMOTHY McVEIGH WAS EXECUTED WITHOUT TELLING US WHAT REALLY DROVE HIM TO THIS ATTACK. HE SPENT ALOT OF TIME IN THE PHILIPPENES WHERE THE
TERRORIST GROUP ABU SAYEF IS & THEY ARE LINKED TO AL QUEDA.

a memo called "bin Laden determined to strike U.S." landed on President Bushes desk in August. He ignored it, went on vacation.
I think the FBI and CIA and the military do a great job.
I dislike President Bush for lots of other reasons than 9-11. Education, Environment, Economic, Foreign policies for starters.
