And are Red Sox fans too busy screaming "YOOOOOO", to realize that Kevin Youkilus sucks.

check again, pucker. Youk didn't have an xta base hit and had 4 total bases from Aug 8-Aug 20.

Oh yes, Mrs Red Sox, more so. I'm still regretting that I didn't rub it in more when Yanks were winning 4 out of 5 in the late 90's

He will win more games than he loses this year.

Youk does not suck -- this is obvious to everyone else, except those that answered this question apparently.

m_c_m - Japanese players can't compete here? You have to be joking, right?

Ichiro
Matsui
Nomo (threw 2 no-hitters -- 1 in each league)
Johjima
Saito
Sasaki

Dice, it is his first year, he is learning the hitters in the AL. I think he will not have more losses than wins, I feel comfortable saying this because I look at the Red Sox remaining Schedule, teams like Baltimore Toronto Minnessota, and yes Tampa (i know tampa is his sore spot) He has thrown great, not always getting run support in the games he has lost. There is also the communication barrier that will improve over time. As far as youkilis goes. I dont care what you say about him, he plays harder than any any any, player in the league day in and day out, never tanking a play or back on his heels and keep this in mind when you think of him, his salary is less than a million dollars a year, so umm compare that to other guys and when you do I think we got the best player for the money. Every player in baseball has streaks thats the game.

All that hype for nothing.

What happened to all these predictions of 18-5, 17-6, 20-7 with a era around 2.95 or 3.20?

The guy is a slightly above average pitcher at best. Be it not for his ability to get K's he would the average .500 AL pitcher with a era around 4.00+ just like the rest of the "average" pitchers.

Had the Yankees signed Dice-K and he had a record of
13-11 Red Sox fans would be calling him a bust.

He very well may end up with more losses than wins, that does not mean that he is a bust, he is still learning the league. Youkilus is a good defensive firstbasemen and is not expected to compete with Ortiz for the big bat on the team, he is a contact guy that gets more out of a little bit of talent than anyone else in the league.

I can ask the same question about Roger, Mussina, and Phil Hughes

I can say Youk has had 10 hits in his last 10 games, and Derek Jeter has had 2 hits since August 21.

His average on August 16th was .326, now it's .318.

At the rate he is going, Dice-K will end the season with more losses than wins. And Red Sox fans are to busy bragging that they won the AL East to notice anything else. When in fact, the AL East hasn't been set yet.

I said it before the season began, Dice-K is nothing more than a triple A player. Perhaps the most over rated player in history considering the $102 M those morans in Boston spent to get him.

Nope. Dice-K plays on too good a team with a bullpen that is too good. On other teams his record may not be as good, but with the Red Sox, it is tough to have a losing record. He will finish with more wins than losses, but not a huge gap.

Ah, Nacnud, the Massachusetts resident Yankee fan. Rather than get baited into your trap, I will part with a quick Yankees Suck and instructions for you to look at the standings. Your team should be grateful to the Angels for gutting, cleaning and frying the Mariners.

To your first question absolutely. He is 5 innings away from reaching is innings pitched from last year. This is unchartered waters for him and I highly doubt he will be able to handle that this year. Next year he will be able to handle it better, keep in mind he is only 26. YOOOOOOOOUkilis is tremedously overrated. He had a great 1st half and hasn't showed up since the all-star break. He still is having a great defensive year at 1st base (made at least one error in at least one start at 3rd base this year).
