As long as they are mowing the lawn, I am keeping my mouth shut. I have one neighbor who seems to get out the mower only once a month..trust me, his lawn looks horrible most of the time...Lawns here are so small that by the time I might be awakened by the sound, they would be done...so no big deal to me, as long as they do mow it.

I agree with the first answer for the most part. I have been tempted to mow a few lawns other than my own. It is over a hundred degrees this week and usually in the 90's where I live so most get out around eight or nine in the morning to get it over with. I don't mind but I'm sure there are those who do. I wouldn't want someone awakening me at six in the morning on my day off though. Eight in the evening is probably a good quiting time, but hey if it's only occasionally, it shouldn't matter.

I never mow or use power equipment on the lawn before 9 during the week and 10 on weekends. I never do yard work late in the day since it's so hot down here but I'd say about 9 in the evening is about the end of the daylight and the end of late mowers.

I know people like to mow in the morning when its cooler but there are people who live the second shift life such as myself. I have asked my neighbors to not mow early, after say 11:00. and as far as late theres a 10:00 noise ordance most places but by then its dark and shouldnt be mowing anyway. I did live on a farm once and would mow at 2 3 4 o'clock in the morning all the time to escape the heat of the day while doing it. Ruined a good rider.

There is a noise ordinance where I live I think it is 8am to 10pm. I have a lawn guy do my mowing every Monday but a few times he can't make it . When this happens I have to do it. I hate the heat and have to start early because it take me longer to get it done. So I use my electric mower. You can hardly hear it. I'll start mowing around 6 or 7am. I've checked with my neighbors and they didn't even know I was mowing!

Unfortunately, the times when it's most comfortable to mow the lawn is when the sun isn't too hot, that means pretty early or pretty late. I hate it when my neighbor mows his lawn at any hour. If you have a pretty decent relationship with your neighbor I would suggest that you ask them if they could possibly do it in the evening before 8.

Normally I would say no earlier than 9 am and no later than 8pm. But with this heat, I know people need to do it when it's not so hot, which means bending the rules of common courtesy a bit. Also, with the windows closed and the air cond' always running right now, the noise problem really hasn't been an issue. Ask this question again in a couple months, though, and I won't be a happy camper. The windows will be open to enjoy the cooler temp's, and I'll be going crazy with the next door neighbor who thinks nothing of getting on his riding mower at 7am!!

This is just my opinion, but I think 8:30 in the morning is the earliest someone should start mowing and as soon as the sun goes down is the latest. Considering that most people use loud power mowers, edgers and leaf blowers, I wish everyone could use goats to keep their yards looking neat. They really do a great job. The city of El Segundo uses them on the hills the city owns. It works out nicely.

I have never mown before 8 a.m., but I have one elderly woman neighbour who uses an old gas hog mower (I'm surprised she can still start the thing) that sends out a grey fog of pollution every time she runs it. This woman has taken to starting that old sucker at 6 a.m. through this past summer....I think so that she could take advantage of the morning breezes to make sure she doesn't asphixiate while she's mowing. I DO know that even being 300 feet away from her doesn't help in keeping that stink out of the house when the breeze wafts it this way.
Digressing...what is with this other Lady G with a different picture and different points from you?

I am at my best early and would love to mow the lawn at 8.30am but I consider the neighbours and leave it until after 10am. In the evening up to 9pm should be OK unless there is an important football match on TV
