I've always been curious why the piano is such an integral part of an American home. They even throw down the stairs on intruders.
A piano goes with the ambience of a bar. You go to drown your sorrows at the bar in booze and the blues.

No - sometimes it's nice to be alone and listen to live music -they could have a whole house full of people back home and now they finally have some peace.

Yes but then sometimes I ask them to join my group so they do not have to sit alone. They usually have pretty interesting reasons as to why they are alone.
