What's the best and cheapest brand that won't tear, rip, or fall apart after a semester in high school (going to be a freshman)? Every backpack I've bought, it would always rip after a couple of months. Besides, since I'm going into high school, I'll have LOTS of heavy textbooks.

BTW, in eigth grade, I had around 5 heavy textbooks. So I guarantee that there will be more in high school.

So what's the best backpack? What do you think about Jansport? Help!!!

BTW, and it has to fit a LOT of books.

Jansport lasts a really long time and the ones that are from sporting good stores are normally very durable.

Before I read the bottom of your question I was going to recommend Jansport. You can't get them at Walmart or Target though. They run around $35 on sale but they are worth it. They are very sturdy and do not rip at all and I think they guarantee it if it does. I had my same Jansport backpack through high school and I still have it. My kids use it when they spend the night somewhere.
I really wouldn't buy a cheap one from Walmart or Target cause my kids have had them and they are only in 3rd and Kindergaten so they had nothing heavy to bring home and they were not even useable for the next year.

Hey I'm gunna be a freshman in high school too! I am using the Jansport Big Student bag (on their website). It was like 40 bucks I think but it holds a TON (i tried out putting my binders in it and I could fit like 6 binders with extra room.)
LL Bean backpacks are also good but I would reccomend Jansport. They have all sorts of cool prints too! The only downside is their straps are kind of stiff when you first get it so you have to break them in.

R.E.I has a navara cycling backpack for $100.00 not bad price. I had mine for 4 or 5 years, I used for bicycle riding, day hiking, traveling, trips to the store with weight of groceries in it, stuffed full often, thrown around. Has places for key chains, 3 large pockets and smaller ones, comfortable and a built in ran cover that is water proof. Considering what I put it trough it held up well and the zipper broke before the strap ripped.

I really don't know. However, if you get several sets of old jeans and some leather pieces for strengtheners, I don't see why you couldn't make one yourself that will be stronger, last longer and still look good and be the envy of your friends, for having a hand made (by you) backpack. You could probably whip one up in three or four days.

Check thrift stores, too. You could probably find some good quality bags for under $10. My husband, who is in grad school, has a rolling Samsonite briefcase that he uses. I found it for him in one of our apartment complex Dumpsters. When I went on line to see how much it cost, I found something similar (the newer version, I guess, for around $100. Anyway, I've seen similar stuff at thrift stores, but not being in the need for them, I did not purchase them.

I also have a couple of good quality brief bags (I think one is LL Bean) that I found at rummage sales for only $1.

Try jansport of eastpak. You might have to pay a little more but it's better then your bag falling apart and having to pay to replace it very few months.
