I also have PCOS and was on met for years, highest dose 2550mg per day, and it didn't help me ovulate or have periods. I had to take Clomid.
However, it does work for a lot of women, so be patient and give it at least 3 months to see if it is going to work for you. What dose are you on?

It took me three months to get my period back to normal while on Metformin. Another thing is: Are you watching what you eat? Metformin is a diabetic medication. For those who just eat what they want and pay no attention to what is going in their mouth the drug isn't able to do what it's supposed to do. Another option is that you may need to lose some weight. Try about 10% of your current body weight with a low carb diet. Carbs=sugar. Sugar=high insulin. Good luck!

The real concern is how much weight have you lost. The Metformin helped me for a little while but once I started to lose weight it made me sick. But it NEVER caused me to have a period.

I switched doctors and the new doc put me on a hormone to force me to have a period. You may want to talk to your doctor about that.
