It's ok to be a gay Republican; it's not ok to be closeted and, at the same time, chastise and berate others for being open about their own sexuality.

That is not the point of this issue. I'm not a liberal but I can't ignore the hypocrisy of this man who voted against many gay rights issues and seeks gay sex in public restrooms. Doesn't it bother you? Is not that he is gay is that he is a hypocrite who hides behind his family values platform to hide his true identity. I do agree that the media has blown this out of proportion and he has more than enough pay for his hypocrisy. He should be left alone.

Well, being a democrat or many independents means you have no morality, so it is perfectly in line with your beliefs.
As a republican, you are held to a higher standard, and frankly rightfully so. According to non-republicans, your entire political belief is based on morality. Funny isn't it.

It's okay to be gay and Republican(though why anybody would want anything to with people who despise your very existence is beyond me),just don't be a liar and a hypocrite about it.

Because republicans hate gay people. There are plenty of gay republicans though, they just are in the closet.

It's OK for a Republican to be gay, but once they come out of the closet, they'll be a democrat. Why would they stick with a party that doesn't respect their life choices.

But if you are, and you constantly try to demonize homosexuals, merely to be elected and maintain power it seems a bit hypocritical.
Why is it you take such a simple concept and try to make it into an untruth that republican or conservative gays would not be appreciated?
