Situation:
I'm finally turning 16 on September 10th.
I haven't legally been allowed to get a job anywhere until I turn 16, due to insurance purposes I've been studying to become a WEB-DESIGNER & I think there is alot of potential there. It's a great opportunity but the problem is... that I have 2 options, I can either study really hard and be patient, because it will take me another 2 months or so to finish my certifications for WEB DESIGN, so I wont be able to get a job or a pay check for about 2 months after I turn 16. OR I could go get a job at a store working part time, while maintaining my schedules so I still have plenty of study time as well.
( I've already graduated high school, I was homeschooled )

What should I do?
I want money now, I want experiences.. I want to live & learn.
Should I get a job now working for some retard at a store,
Or should I just be patient, & keep studying until the web design pays off ?! Any input is great :) Thank you!

DONT RUSH IT!!!

all you will have to do for the rest of your life is work... you have 50 years of work in front of u!! stay in school, bide your time.. concentrate on your studies, and dont forget to enjoy yourself!! you are 16, work should not be your first concern.. go out, learn a few things about life... work should be the last thing on your mind

Well you definitely sound a lot more motivated than most 16 yr. olds that I have ever met. I would suggest working part-time maybe a couple days a week and then spend the rest of your time working towards your certification. It is wonderful that you are working towards something at such an early age, but I think that working with your peers and having a job such as at a grocery store will benefit you. You don't want to grow up too fast!

Definitely get the job in retail, and keep up your studies at the same time. Even if you work for a "retard", as you said, it'll help you gain experience working with customers - experience you'll be able to use when you go into your own field.

You'll also learn that the use of terms like "retard" is extremely offensive to some people, as you'll end up interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds and experiences. Lastly, you may learn that people who seem less intelligent than you may, in fact, have something valuable to contribute.

Did you learn in home schooling that people who manage stores are "retards"? I think you need tha experience of being with people and working- so my advice is to work and go to college.

Even if you finish your web design course you will be competing with people who went to college. And insurance restrictions don't end at 16 - OSHA likes persons in certain work places to be at least 18.

If you want the money now, go for the store job and dont see it as working for a ****. You maight meet interesting people there and get to talk to them. It will develop another facet of your personality and might help you in people skills. And have you thought of free lance web design?
