I usually start in Nov. A lot of people shop all year round for Christmas but I can not keep a secret. If I buy my husband something that I find on sale, I can't hide it for months and months until Christmas. I'll give it to him right away, unless his birthday is right around the corner.

That differs with many people. I usually start in January or February and purchase items I know who will like what when they are on sale or receive a rebate on them. With rebates you can receive some items for free. I sell on eBay and just received a letter from them to make my store bigger at the end of October because that is when they start advertising everywhere, including tv. Then in November you start to get requests from close friends and family members or ask them and that is usually when I purchase a couple of more expensive items that are wanted, again, only when on sale.
Have fun shopping and start browsing the newspaper ads.

I started last year right after Chrismas. Since I have a 6 year old daughter I pick things up as I see them real cheap. Then I store them in the basement. This also comes in handy when she has a birthday party to attend. I always have something on hand.

I usually start mid November. I started early this year as I found something for my Dad, the hardest person to buy for on my list! So now I can take a break and leave the rest until mid November.

I perosnally haven't started yet, I have to save some allowance becuase I think its better to pay for the gift yourself out of your hard earnd cash I get from my father ha ha. But my mum has stated alread - she started in January - she just randomly buys gifts not knowing who there for but assures me that she will give it to someone. She likes to buy little pressents and loads of them, so people we give them to have loads, my mum preferes it that way. Spending money on one great big PS3/computer etc just defeats the whole point of Christmas. Sometimes its OK I guess.
