The McDLT (McDonald's Lettuce and Tomato) was a hamburger product based on a novel form of packaging.[1] The meat and bottom half of the bun was prepared separately from the lettuce, tomato, American cheese, pickles, sauces, and top half of the bun. Both were then packaged into a specially designed two-sided container. The consumer was then expected to finalize preparation of the sandwich by combining the hot and cool sides just prior to eating. The company discontinued the sandwich in 1990 due to the move away from the environmentally unsound styrofoam packaging which was integral to the McDLT "experience". The sandwich has come back, albeit without the big packaging, as the Big N' Tasty.

I was not impressed.

This question gets asked once a week. It was the McDLT.

It came in a two-sided Styrofoam (trademark) container. One side held the burger. the other held the tomato, lettuce and bun. It was dropped because environmental groups stated the container harmed the lands. It has been gone for over 20 years! And, as i stated earlier, I think it tasted better than the Big and Tasty, but then again, memories can be deceiving.

I think it was the "Big n Tasty" When they first came out with it the meat was on the bottom of the bun. The top of the bun with the condiments was on a separate side of the container. (They did not put the two sides together.) So when you got it the lettuce was cold and the meat was hot.

The still serve a burger with this name but now make and package it the same as all the others.

"Keeps the hot side hot and the cool side cool."
The idea behind the McDLT was to capture the taste of a backyard grill-out burger--where the cheese, lettuce, and tomato are added after cooking, cheese not melted, veggies nice and cool.
I liked it a lot.

It was the McDLT. A play on "BLT". They claimed it was "hot on one side" the burger/bottom bun side and "cold on the other" the lettuce, tomato etc and top bun side. Yet they stuck the whole thing under a heat lamp. Leave it to the Mcbrainiacs
