π is transcendental, while φ is merely irrational.

I am partial to pi. On the whole, it comes up in math way more than phi, and plus it is larger.

Phi. It's underrated.

I once built a couple of bookcases whose height:width ratio was phi (or as close to phi as I was able to make them, with my limited woodworking skills). I like to think they are well-proportioned.
