Liquid/Pre-mixed is more expensive and not necessarily more convenient-- you have to heat it.
Powdered is quite simple, clean, and CHEAPER, by far. Also...dont forget to sign up on the websites for Similac and Enfamil-- they will send you free samples and rebate checks worth $5 each. My daughter is 4 months and I JUST bought my first full-priced can.

Powder is a lot cheaper than the liquid stuff. My son had a hard time with the powdered stuff (spitting up and such) so we did liquid until he was three months old and then switched to the powdered version of the same formula and he did great. The powder also last a lot longer. The ready to serve liquid is good for 24 hours after opening and the powder is good for 1 month. I buy mine at Sam's to get even more for cheaper.

congratulations on your twins...i have 5 wk old twin girls..as far as i have learned the powder is cheaper and not only that the fact that you have to use the liquid in a certain amount of time doesn't work too well..i use the powder now because i can make it as i need it and not worry about it going bad and wasting money (which comes in handy when you have two newborns) on another note i noticed that the liquid stains babies clothes as well..the powder doesn't (well it hasn't so far and i do laundry alot so the money you save could be used for other things like laundry soap lol...good luck with your twins and i hope everything goes well

Powder is easier because you don't have to refrigerator it and it will not go bad once opened, plus you can mix with warm water with refrigerated liquid it is cold and needs to be m mixed with hot water and can be tricky to get the right temp just right at 2am... I also kept a few packages of the singles in every diaper bag and in the glove compartments to both cars, and in my purses it was a cheap and easy guarantee that no matter what I always had enough for 1 or 2 extra bottles. My car broke down on what was suppose to be a 10 minute trip in an area with new houses being built and no people, I also had no cell phone so I was stuck there till someone came alone and allowed me use of their cell phone but my daughter was very hungry by that time.

Powdered formula is in fact cheaper and and in some cases, more convienient. Some parents say it's cumbersome mixing the powdered form, but you may find that it's a minor inconvenience for the savings. Keep in mind that when you're away from home, you can keep the powder separate from the water and mix them just before feeding which is easier than trying to keep them cool and warming them up while your on the go with two hungry babies.

Liquid (or premixed) is always more expensive. The powder is just as good, cheaper in the long run, and much more convenient when traveling (no heavy cans to lug around). The nutritional value is the same. And powder has a more extended shelf life.
Best wishes!

When my girls were first born the hospital gave them liquid - one of them couldn't digest it and we had to switch to a different brand for one twin. When we got home, we switched them both to powder...
I would make batches of formula... and make enough for 3/4 of the day at once. Trying to make two bottles every 2-3 hours is exhausting. Get a big measuring cup (8C) and use it to mix the formula in (you'll have to do the math to figure out the water to formula ratio for the batch).
Don't go out and buy a whole bunch of any one brand yet... try to register with the manufacturers as most of them will supply a free can or give you coupons.
Good Luck to you!

I used the powder with my daughter. I always thought it was so much easier to use. I could pre-measure out some of the powder into a bottle if we were going somewhere, and just take a bottle of water along with me to make it inot a bottle while we were gone. I didn't have to try to keep it cold or anything.... Hope this helps!

I personally think that either is fine.... But that the powder is more convenient. Because you don't have to put water in it until it's time to eat.... so if you are out of the house, just scoop the powder you want in the bottles and later when it's time to eat you just need to pour in the water...

I found it easier to use powder with my last 2 babies. (I had to work.) Every night I would wash and sterilize bottles and pre-fill the measured amount of Nursery Water. When my sitter got ready to feed, all she had to do was measure the formula into the bottle and shake. The water didn't have to be refrigerated and it was really convenient for travel.
