President Lincoln and President JOHNSON (not Jackson) were both Republicans. That in itself was a good reason for Southern leaders to reject the Republican party.

B is probably the answer, but I believe Congress mostly followed the plan for reconstruction advocated by President Andrew Johnson which was far more liberal than Congress had originally proposed.

Andrew Johnson was a Democrat; Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. In 1864, neither man represented their respective parties the the Presidential election, but rather ran on the National Union Party ticket. Technically, they were both National Unionists.

The primary reason the former leaders of the Confederacy rejected the Republican Party after the War of Northern Agression was because the radical Republicans in Congress imposed Republican leadership on the Southern States.

So I guess "B" is the closest answer.
