We, like everyone else, await the results of the forensics from the recent searches. We do not know who has taken Madeleine or why. Sometimes people do things for reasons that even they cannot understand. An act of madness, an accident or sudden impulse can lead to consequences that people may never have imagined or intended. Faced with such a situation we believe any human soul will ultimately suffer torment and feelings of guilt and fear.

Apparently someone 'accidentally' took Madeleine. Then 'accidentally' killed her, then 'accidentally' disposed of her body.
An accident only applies to the parents in this case. An Abductor does not accidentally take a child.
He is dropping himself in it the more he talks.

I saw this earlier and my first thought was how similar it was to an article that I read after I followed a link that someone had put up here a few days ago to a blog written by an Australian bloke; he was referencing the McCann's odd behaviour, their lack of actual searching for their missing daughter and the inane comments about jogging, etc, on Gerry's blog. This Aussie wrote a very well worded couple of paragraphs imploring the return of Madeleine or knowledge of her fate and whereabouts and suggested that it was something the McCanns should have been writing, etc. Very interesting - maybe someone has the link to hand....
So I saw Gerry's blog and thought - hmm, someone may have been taking notes!
It just seems that it's taken quite a long time for Gerry to actually get around to writing this, though. Like some other posts here, I am not sure if this is actually Geryy writing - seems a bit compassionate.
The bit about managing to go jogging and 'popping into church for 10 minutes to pray for Madeleine' is more his style. Grrr!

You're twisting what has been said.
Who, out of any of you, has been in the situation where you have left your children and one has gone missing and is possibly dead? I suspect none of you.
How is somebody supposed to act/speak in public when you know that you have the eyes of everyone on you all thinking that you neglected and left your children while you sat in a tapas bar? You don't know how you would be unless you have been in that situation.
Yes, people do things for reasons they don't understand. We have all had an act of madness, an accident or had a sudden impulse throughout our lives that have lead to consequences that we never imagined or intended and I defy anyone to say they haven't.
You have twisted it to read how you want it to read. You've put the cat amongst the pigeons and you're blinkered.

Gerry McCanns is not "suggesting" anthing.
This is just an appeal to the abductor or to anyone who has info regarding his Madeleine.
The fact that he mentions "an act of madness, or an accident or sudden impulse" is just a way of trying to understand the abductors frame of mind in a bid to placate him.
Don't you get it?!
Trust you & yours to find fault with it!

The police must have enough to charge him by now. As to the accident is he trying to gauge the reaction to such an idea.
Saying it was an accident did no favours for Ian Huntley.

It is a plea, in the hope that she is still alive and could be returned. Why are people reading so much extra detail into everything? When the case is solved some contributers will just look idiotic.

Well ,the McCanns haven't said anything yet that changes my opinion of them. For me it's still guilty until proven innocent.
I wait for the blinkered pro's to give the thumbs down.
I agree with Anne.

I agree with Dave S.
I also don't get how it goes from presuming an "accident" happened and she is dead to a plea to safely return their daughter. Can't wait for tomorrows blog!!

It is an odd thing to say if you think it was an abduction. In fact it makes no sense at all. It can only make sense if read in conjunction with the comment about awaiting the results of the forensic testing.
