we have a bath which has a raised rim, the shower is above the bath (not the tap end) and when we shower the water pools around this rim against the wall, this is causing the silicon seal to go mouldy and we have to use towls to remove the water. a new bath is out of the question and so is moving the shower due to the layout of the bathroom.
any ideas how to divert the water away from the rim or a product which does this?

sorry forgot to mention we have to put a towl in between the rim of the bath and the wall to stop it dripping down onto the floor

I know it sounds unappealing, but you could hang another shower curtain on that side of the tub.

We had that problem at a rental house in Philadelphia. All you can do is get a real silicon caulk (not the "siliconized cheap kind but the one with a 30 year warranty). Scrape off every speck of the old caulk with a razor blade. Dry the edge and then put down the new caulk. Let it dry before using the tub. Go over the caulk with bleach every week to kill any mold that shows up in the future.

I´ve seen the same thing before myself.

The ONLY cure is to re-fit the bath with the taps at the shower end, or re-fit the shower with the shower at the tap end.

Whoever fitted the bath did not know that a shower was going at that end (or did not know what he was doing).

No other cure is possible, but turning the bath around is not as big a job as it sounds (except to a plumber).

this is caused because your bath is fitted incorrectly i.e not level any water collecting there should find its way back into the bath your solution if you dont want to level it is to buy a small fixed panel there about 150mm long and 1.5m high

Difficult to picture without seeing it. Try white vinegar on the mould. Reseal with a heavier seal or use a ceramic edging, depending on the area you have. Failing that buy more towels.

Alter the position of the showerhead so it doesn;t spray on the wall.
