I'm totally enjoying it. After the big stink they made over LGBT people destroying the institution of marriage and the like, it's abundantly clear that it was all a political ploy. In 2008, the fundamentalists that they scared are going to sit on their hands and not vote. We'll have a Democrat president, and possibly a filibuster-proof Senate and a Democrat House.

And then we can start undoing the damage the current moron-in-chief has done for the last two terms.

I'm guessing a lot of it has to do with suppression and assumption. As sexual orientation is a factor that each individual is born with, those who feel this way from an early age may inherit some shame with it. As the bible teaches forgiveness upon repentance (the bible being one of the main supports behind the republican party's push for "moralization" of America), I would assume that those who enter into the Republican party with (one would assume) a Christian background, then actively taking part in the push against gay rights could possibly be a way for them to separate themselves from their true feelings and, in a way, "absolve themselves of their sins". Of course ignoring your emotions this way can lead to depression and guilt and, as has been proven with Ted Haggard/Mark Foley, a certain sense of desperation. It's just so sad that the basis for said republicans even beginning this "crusade" against gay rights could stem from them viewing their own personal feelings as inherently "immoral"

Exactly the same as I feel about the hypocrisy among the other party. How about you?

something specific or should I expound upon the many different facets of their hypocrisy?

I think both parties and many major political organizations suffer from this. They all want to have their cake and eat it too.

It is totally typical behavior! When people fight so hard against something that really doesnt have anything to do with them, you know that they are hiding something, and clearly this dude was hiding something.....ewwww an airport bathroom......tacky!!!

No more hypocritical than anyone else in politics. Maybe just more prone to denial ("not just a river in Egypt").

I don't think about it very often. Republicans make me gassy.

Well, I can't help it. Every time I hear Bush talk I want to fart.
