Couple of holes in your theory.
Canada's in major league baseball, has been for some time.
When the term "World Series" was put into use, there were no organized baseball leagues at a professional level anywhere else in the world but the US. (Canada came later.) At that time, the series did represent the best baseball in the world.
Now the term is trademarked, and while there's first-rate baseball in other countries, they'll have to come up with their own name for their best-two-teams-play-each-other series.
And as you probably know, the best players from the other countries' leagues are glad to "go to the show" and play in the American or National League, because it remains the epitome of baseball.
How do you feel about Mr. Universe?

We don't !
We call it the World Series .
We get by with that name because in the early days when
Basball started we were the only Country in the world
that had Organized Baseball with 2 opposing Leagues
which sent their winning teams to a Series of final
games to determine the World Champions !
I suppose if Upper Slobovia had a baseball team
that wanted to be included , we could have worked
something out !
Japan may someday do just that ---Baseball inspired and originally coached by Americans is very popular there----
meantime they send us Pitchers
(the ones who throw the ball to the Hitters ,---
some of whom are Cubans, last I heard)
One thing for sure---we Americans will never threaten
the World Championship Cricket Teams---
And to answer your last question there is nothing wrong
with Americans because we are from all over the World
and we are representative of the world---if you
haven't noticed !

We used to be able to say that the best two teams in the world were playing, but judging from our performance in the worldwide baseball championships that's no longer the case.

First of all, what if we call it the word series? We love our grammatical excellence!
Seriously though, it is called the world series because that is what it is called. There was never any intention of insulting the rest of the world.
Besides, why do you even care?
