I'll use the motel pillows to prop my back when I read in bed, but when it's time to snuggle down to sleep, I need my own pillow.

Iritadragon, no offense taken. At first blush, it does sound like a kid thing, but honestly, I find it very difficult to fall asleep on motel pillows. They're too big, too soft, too everything.

I ALWAYS take my pillow everywhere I go to sleep. Even on the motorcycle I find a place to carry him. My pillow has a name and gender. Pealee is an old down pillow. He is real flat, but fits comfortably over my eyes and ears so that I can block out the rest of the world.
I ordered a memory foam pillow to be sent to my son's house so when I spend the night, I don't have to bring one for my neck. Getting old sucks! Everything needs support now.

Yes I do, I can't sleep well on any other. I do the same thing with the motel pillows, I prop them up for reading or watching TV. When we go out of town to visit friend or relatives we take our pillows as well, and all understand because they do to.

I travel a lot so I have this polar fleece blanket with a pocket in which the entire thing folds into itself creating a pillow...I need a blanket when I fly and a pillow when I sleep, so all is good and in a handy dandy carrier!

Yes I do. I even take my own sheets now. I like the smell of my laundry softener. I too use the hotel pillows for prop. I also bring Clorox wipes and re-clean the bathroom.

I sometimes do, if I'm traveling by car. Didn't on this last trip, I flew and didn't have room for a pillow. I do like my own pillow better. Much easier to sleep!

I used to, then I stopped. I usually regret it when I don't. Just last weekend I went to my nephews wedding in Texas. The place where we stayed these HUGE fluffy pillows that are just terrible for stomach sleepers. I like soft flat-ish pillows. I had a neck ache for 2 days.

Definitely - nothing worse than an uncomfortable pillow when travelling ( also when going to hospital - those pillows can be the worst , as well as having plastic covers on them !)

I bring my own Allergan pillow case so I decrease the dust mites and stuff I inhale from the pillows. If I'm traveling by car, I bring my own pillow.

You made me smile...do you also wear footed pyjamas and carry a stuffed toy? :) I am not trying to be cruel or snide...just picturing a grey haired woman with her security pillow makes me smile is all.
Although I REALLY DO understand you compulsion, because my youngest refuses to go anywhere without her (which used to be mine) feather pillow--even into the hospital for operations--that pillow goes with her on all overnights everywhere. Stood up to the abuse pretty well to, because I bought a pair of them 25 years ago. They are very highest quality goose down. (I couldn't afford the eider duck.)

I usually try to bring my own just because I know it is comfortable
and sometimes motel pillows are too soft or too hard.
