Unlike westerners who constantly have the wool pulled over their eyes, the middle-east understands the seriousness of the oil situation. It is becoming more costly to pump because of the lower levels. They too are seeking alternatives sources of energy not only for themselves but also to make the oil last longer. Why is that so hard for people to understand.

No I think we should now block any other nation from joining the nuclear club especially those in the Middle East due to the possibility of terrorists gaining control of those countries.

If we don't support the dictator Nguyn Kao Ky, the communists will take over the world by the end of the century, and we will all be speaking Russian and calling each other comrade.
OPPS
Slipped into a bit of a time warp there.
EDIT
russkimuzhik. What is the difference between monarchy and dictatorship, other than the label.
EDIT.
Interesting that I get two thumbs down, and Ken gets two thumbs up even though our viewpoint is essentialy the same (except that mine is expressed through sarcasm)

Only most Liberals seem to think that. They want us to leave Iraq, so Iran can move in, and triple terrorize the Iraqi people, more than they were before American and British soldiers went in to fight the insurgents. If we left Iraq, now, all the progress made for a democracy in that country will have been for naught, and the deaths that have already occurred, would become a waste.
Kennedy was the ONLY Liberal I ever knew of that stood against dictators having nukes. i;e Fidel Castro, Bay of Pigs; Cuban Missile Crisis.
I wonder why the Libs' support of Iran's "right" (to them) to have nukes now, doesn't bother them, knowing how Iran hates us, and Israel, when they were VERY BOTHERED when Castro nearly had them when the USSR was trying to ship them to Cuba? It can't be because they think Iran can't hit us with a nuke. It must be because a Republican Administration (Bush) is trying to prevent a terrorist supporting country from owning nukes?
Kennedy was a Liberal, so as long as a Liberal does it, it's good, but if a Republican does it, it's bad? JFC! Do Libs love their country, or do they love power more?

While we should not support them neither should we try and stop them. We really ought to mind our own business for once. Keep an eye on them, yes. Make sure that they are aware that as a nuclear power they have certain responsibilities. Make it clear that for every one missile they send our way ten will go their way. We kept things in balance with the late Soviet Union that way and I believe it will work with others too.
Peaceful nuclear programs may be just that, they may not. We need to keep an eye on them but NOT BUTT IN.

Until we figure out what to do with the 60,000 + metric tons of nuclear waste already produced (from power generation alone), then I would suggest we refrain from instigating others to have a similar issue.

Unfortunately these days the only way to be safe is actually have a nuclear bomb which prompting more countries to develope one. Its a sad state of affair that instead of discouraging this habit...its their ticket to freedom, even if you have to fake it like Saddam tryed.

Do you think the kingdom (not a dictatorship) of Jordan is really capable of building a reactor?
I doubt so.
You see: a much more powerful China can't build it without foreign help.
---
Israel was helped by France.
Libya failed.
N.Korea was helped by China.
China itself can build only weapon-grade reactors; Europe and Russia help to develop their peaceful program.

Dictatorships are wonderful as long as they are "our" dictatorships. Ironic that we would seek to instill "democracy" (whatever that means to those in power here) in Iraq yet most of our allies in the middle east are dictatorships and we do nothing to encourage them to hold free and fair elections. Of course, we only like free and fair elections when we like the results anyway.
