I got in my car and I turned it on, put it in drive and my whole car locks up on me and wouldn't go anywhere. I thought I ran over a cat. I didn't. I turned it off and tried to put it in drive again and it just wouldn't go anywhere. The ONLY tire that won't go/spin is the rear, driver (left) side tire. That is the only one that is not spinning. All the rest are. Does this sound familiar to ANYONE? The car starts, everything works BUT the left, driver side tire. ANYTHING is appreciated. Please message or e-mail me anything you might think it could be. It won't drive or roll, so obviously I would have to get it towed. I'm a girl, so I am absolutely clueless what to do or where to go. HELP!

IF THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS BEFORE THIS EPIC EVENT, IT COULD BE A DEFECTIVE BRAKE CYLINDER
IF THERE WAS A DRONING NOISE FOR WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS, IT COULD BE A SEIZED BEARING BUT I DOUBT IT
GET THE BRAKES CHECKED FIRST OFF
GOOD LUCK

DON'T PULL THE TRIGGER!!---You need to state the year, make and model of the car to help with answering the problem but it sounds like your left rear brake has locked up. Usually it's caused by rusty parking brake cables or a bad self-adjusted in the brake itself. Try setting and releasing the parking brake several times and then try driving again--if there's any sign of the brake dragging, don't drive it as it can severely overheat the brake.

What kind of car is it? It could be the rear wheel bearing went bad and it seized up. Did you notice any low humming or grinding noice while driving it over the past few weeks?

Best thing to do is talk to a mechanic, could be your Differential or a broken axle? hard to tell without looking at it.

It seems to have a brake problem. Take to a mechanic and repair it.
