I can't speak for everyone but that's the case for me. I try not to think that I'm bored with my wife (going on 15 years of being in a relationship together) but I know that's the case because I find myself seeking more outside the relationship. Ya! Ya! what an a**hole I sure people are saying. But hey! Ask if I care what other people think. You know what the answer will be. Life too short to be bored and miserable people!!

maybe everyone is bored with THEMSELVES....
sometimes people go into marriages with unrealistic expectations... as if it's going to be a constant, romantic holiday.... but there is work to be done, real life daily issues to face, housework, mowing grass, paying bills, and the list goes on.
the other person can't entertain us all the time, either....
i think that many people don't use their spare time productively, and have nothing which keeps them occupied or interested.... i have always had projects outside of my relationships -- i'm an artist.
a spouse can't be there for us or entertain us 24/7.
we need to be content with ourselves, also... if not, well... we might find ourselves looking for "more" as you say....

I think its not really bored with the relationship.. it's bored with ourselves.. if the relationship is important but boring right now,, try something different or a change to spice things up.. otherwise you or he will stray off....

You need to know what your motivation is for looking. There is always a reason for looking maybe because we are not trying to work on what needs attention. Boredom is an easy cop out for not doing what we should be doing. I myself am guilty of this, but it doesn't make it an less true.

yeah sometimes it is boring, you just have to try and mix it up a little bit so it's more fun.It's normal. I never want to stray from him though I love him to death.
