I know that people name their boys after their husband and either have so and so Jr or so and so the II...... but my name is Mary Katherine and I have NEVER been called that EVER.... I have ALWAYS been called Katie. So would it be weird to name my little girl Mary Katherine and call her Mary Katherine if that is my name too?

No, you can name a girl after mother if you really like the name and if everyone calls you katie and you intend to call her mary Katherine..I dont see where the confusion would set in.. If you really love it then go with it.

No. You already said that nobody ever calls you Mary Katherine but you could give your daughter a different nickname like Mary or Katherine Or Kate or Kathy.........But there are also other names you can give her if Mary Katherine doesnt sound right.

hmmm...i'm not sure...
mary is quite a short name so if your daughter didnt like the name there isnt any nicknames or versions of mary she could use.
however, my real name is Katherine and i think its a great name to have because there are so many versions of the name to choose from!
i don't think there is any problem with you naming your daughter after yourself, just beware not to give her a name she may not like and cant abrieviate.
hope i've helped

My mother in law named her daughter after her...well, i think its just a family name.....
my mother in laws name: Mary Ann
my sister in laws name: Mary Catherine AKA Caty

but Mary I believe is a family name....so its not extreamly common but it does happen.....I say go for it if you want to....

Sounds good to me! I knew a Linda whose daughter was named Lindsey as a sort of naming after as well. I like your idea though!

I think that is the boringest name ever. Pick something unique, something that sounds good with your last name. One of my little girl's names is Cosette, and the other is Anais, and people go NUTS over these names. I am a Susan and everywhere I have ever worked there are like ten Susans and it gets a little ridiculous. It's nice to be unique! Also, try matching the major sounds of your last name with the first sound of your baby's name. Like the last name McKenna could have a first name of Chloe or Constance. They both sound great with that last name. Give me your last name and I can come up with a dozen that sound great with it immediately.
