Made the discovery that my carpet under the window where AC is was wet this morning. Any thoughts on this? It has been fine all summer till now. Does not seem to have shifted in the window.

Either the tilt has changed on your window unit ( Check it with a level to make sure it lends away from house...or pour some water on the outside to see if it drains off the back ). If the angle is OK,,,then check the drain hole on the back...it may be clogged with debris.
I use to take my unit out every spring and clean it out. If you do this you should not have any major problems. That window unit lasted 27yrs until I sold the house...not sure about it now.

Check to see if the drain holes on your AC unit on the outside of the house are filled with trash . Sometimes leaves fall in this area and rot . This stops up the drain holes so that water is slow to drain and causes it to overflow into the house . Sometimes a good washing down with a hose pipe from the outside will help keep this clean .

Drain might have finally clogged up. Most people would say tilt it backwards, but if the drain is clogged, then it will still leak inside.

There may be a blockage in the condensate drain. If you can find out the way the water is supposed to go, and make sure it is clear and unplugged, that may do it.

Tilting *may* help.

First check to make sure the filter is clean. Also check to make sure the drain is not clogged. For more go to www.hvac-for-beginners.com . Check out the page on window units.

It sounds like the drain is clogged. It will probably have to be washed out.

it has tilted to the inside! re-tilt it and watch the water flow out..then SCREW IT DOWN to prevent it from happening again (actually you should screw it down no matter what)
