I put spaghetti down the drain last night....stupid move! Anyways, when I run the disposal, that side of the sink goes down but the other side fills up with nasty stuff AND then the disposal side fills up a little too. I am ignorant when it comes to plumbing stuff but want to know if I will be able to fix it. Thanks!

Try putting on a plastic glove. Make sure the disposal is off. Reach in and pull out as much of the spaghetti from the diposal as you can reach and toss it that spag in the garbage can. WHen it is reasonably empty try running water. If it goes down you are in good shape. If not keep the water running, cover the other sink's drain hole, and turn on the disposal. That should free it up.

If not you will need to get a sink auger and take out the drain plug at the bottom of the U trap below the sink (with a bucket under it) and let the glop come out from there. Poke the auger in there in the direction of both sinks and see if you can auger out any stoppage. Put the plug back on and see if water flows freely.

If not it is time to auger deeper until you hit a larger drain pipe because the blockage is likely to be just in the skinny sink pipes.

put a solution of baking powder and vinegar in the drain overnight.. flush with hot water in the morning and that should dissolve the noodles and leave your drain open

NEVER PUT YOUR HAND DOWN A GARBAGE DISPOSAL!

That would be incredibly dangerous. Take a look:

Use a plunger on the drain but hold the stopper on the other drain.
