Vista would run much better with 2x1Gb. 6200 is quite outdated. Consider a DX10 card for Vista. 8400GS and 8500GT are cheap but 8600GT or GTS would be better.

You will be able to run Halo 2. I've run it with 1GB of ram a 3.0 P4 and a 256MB ATI X850XT video card. Runs fine but not as nice as on my gaming rig with 4 GBs of RAM and a big 512MB video card. You minimum Windows Experience index should be 3 with 5 being what they suggest. Best thing to do with games is to google the name of the game with "minimum system requirements" after it.
Here's a list of some games that run on Vista. Just because a game isn't on the list doesn't mean it isn't compatibilty. If you wonder about a particular game go to it's website where you can find out if it works with Vista.

If you want to run high-end games on vista i suggest you add 1GB of ram at least and upgrade your video card to an 8 series Nvidia or 2000 series ATI.

It takes 1GB of Ram to run Vista I think u will need at least 2 GB of Ram to run Halo 2 it might run but it will be very slow u can check to see if the games work by check the box of the games it will tell u the min. req. to run game, www.tigerdirect.com has 1gb memory for about $60.00 I just bought 1 about 3 months ago it was a great deal but u will need to check ur specs of ur pc to see how much memory u can add.

Yes, Vista will run with full effects though 2gb RAM is recommended. As for the game check on the Game cover.

You didnt mention your processor. If it at least 1GHz thats ok. The 256 video card is ok if you run it in VGA mode. If you run DVI you will need a 512 to keep it from stopping and starting 1 GIG of ram will run home basic but Vista is a memory hog. Id get another gig if you could if you intend to use home premium or better

Go to the Microsoft web site. They have a program that will run on your computer and tell you if the computer is able to use Windows Vista. More needs to be checked then just the RAM and video card.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can run windows vista on it but I suggest you to check if there is vista bios update for your motherboard as my vista didn't work properly and had to buy a new motherboard with bios update for vista.
And I recommend you to get 2GB ram just in case.
Go on that website and run the test to see if your computer is good enough.
http://microsoft.amd.com/us-en/Home-Page/Are-You-Ready-.aspx
I have got Pentium 4, 1gb ram, 128mb GeForce 7100gs graphic card, 250gb hard drive, window vista ultimate and its working perfect.
And go onto that site download and run window upgrade advisor to check if your hardwares would work on vista

should be ok if you can run then in xp although more ram could help - and memory is cheap - you have not mentioned anything else - what processor do you have? - you would need to check that your games are compatible with vista.

i thought computers were for doing tasks set them by their owners?
all the resources of my PC are taken up with running the operating system! take my advice and stick with xp
its gotta be Microsoft's best os to date - vista looks pretty but it does nothing more than xp IMHO
i reinstalled xp within hours of vista upgrade
if you want a feel for how your PC will perform, disable the CPU cache in bios then try running things!
once again DO NOT BOTHER!
