The f1 points system is clearly flawed at the moment espiecially since the top teams are so dominant it means there are normally only 2 pts positions left after Mclaren/ferrar/bmw have dont their thing of being fast and reliable.

this means the drivers outside the points have absolutley no reason to bother racing because finishing 9th is the same as finishing 20th - you get nothing. If the drivers had a small number of points to gain for every position a la Nascar or most positions like Moto GP it would encourage more passing in the positions outside the points. It also would sho who the better drivers are. Barrichello is clearly better than Albers but because neither have points they look equally crap.

Also there should be prize money(i know there is some but i mean reward for race positon). This way drivers, espiecially ones with limited sponsorship, would really have something to fight for and you will fight like hell if it means an extra €40000 in your pocket.

jesus man, use your brain and maybe add your opinion on whether you think it would be a help or a hindrence. Do you have to have a question mark to know if your allowed respond or something?

I think the F1 points system is great the way it is. Although it seems harsh because drivers who finish in the top eight will get points whereas the others wouldn't, it gives space for more competition. It means that if the drivers really want points, they have to really fight it out for the point-scoring positions.

But I agree with you that it would be more encouraging if the points system was modified. It would also show more difference in the drivers' potential instead of putting them on the same level just because they have no points (as in your example of Barrichello and Albers).

i see your point but i dissagree, i dont think anyone is holding back because the points aren't there. making a few good passes with points or not will result in a better ride in the future,

i think it boils down to two factors, not being able to make a pass because the cars are too aero dependant, and tires grading to badly when the car looses the grip and under stears through the corners.
