Short term and long term.
Do Republicans want to distance themselves from the mistakes of the Bush administration or do they deny he made mistakes - stay the course? Will the Republicans address the sex scandals over the past year or just shrug it off like the Democrats with Bill Clinton?

Is Rudy G., a New York City liberal, is he the new Republican, or will John McCain make a comeback?

In my opinion, Ron Paul is what America needs right now.
And I feel he is the only true Conservative.

The republicans will bounce back...the problem in todays world is that ppl dont have the stomach for war like they used to and thats unfortunate because peace is achieved through superior fire power not talking, but i believe that 2008 wont be our year but the next presidential election will bring way for real actual strong republicans who are ready to take on the job...so dont count us out yet

In the short term, GOP candidates will try to distance themselves from Bush without admitting any mistakes. The Neocons will avoid the sex scandals, though it hurts their image more so than the Demos because they are the self proclaimed "morals party". Rudy G. is a used-car salesman, John McCain is done and I couldn't tell you who Ron Paul is at this point. He's not on the radar. The GOP will lose the Whitehouse in 2008. However, the party in control eventually makes a mistake and because it is clear to the population they are in control, they are not, try as they may, able to blame the other party.

Republicans seem intent to stay the course on a sinking ship.

If Rudy is the future of the Republicans, then they've lost to the Dems. It would be better for them if they lose with Rudy running than winning with him.

Think about the Dems asking the same thing about Kerry in '04. If John Kerry was the future, the dems were in trouble. He appropriately lost, and now they're regaining their footing, focusing on the things their voters want.

The Republicans need to lose, do some soul searching and get back to what a majority of their constituents believe.... being conservative wth money.

If both parties emerge better from this ridiculous time in american politics, we'll all benefit.

wow... the ron paul hype rears his ugly head. the republican party has undergone a shift and now represents evangelical conservative christians. ron paul does not represent that group, so i would say that he is not the "future" republican, but an old guard republican and one who is quickly becoming marginalized. hence his dearth of support. i do personally agree with many points on his platform, but i think he should be in the libertarian party

may republicans acknowledge bush's miscalculations but judge the content of his character favorably. republicans take sex scandals VERY seriously and this recent scandal with the idaho senator is likely to depress some of his vote in idaho

i wish McCain would make a comeback, but i highly doubt it. We should choose somebody who has personally suffered from the scars of war to decide when american blood should be spilled overseas. unfortunately, i just don't think many people see it like me

Republicans will always be around just like Democrats. It's a pendulum effect.

republicans, just like the rest of humanity, will have to meet their maker one fine day.

So, the answer to your question would be that Hell is in the future for republicans.

I hope it is the same as the Democratic Party - extinct. I want new ideas, new theories...people who actually want to uphold the Constitution and restore freedom to the people. Both parties suck.
