they should be allowed to carry mobiles. college studetns are grown adults and there fore know not to misuse it during the class hours and etc. they deifnitely have the right to a mobile because many of them have kids and need to be in touch with them, they might get job interview calls, meet up with other students for assignemnts.. etc.. the list can go on. but a college student definitely have the right to carry cell phone. most class room rule is to shut it off or put it on silent during the class session. so i do not see any reason for not giving them the access to their mobile.

Yes they should be allowed to carry mobile phones because in case of emergency they can be contacted anytime by their families. They can carry them in their pockets, silent and/or in vibrate mode. Mobiles are life-lines, they save lives. What happens if someone faints or dying in the classroom and no one has mobile? With mobile phones help is underway within seconds where time is precious. So I will say to save life, students should carry mobiles all the time, no question.

I love Collages, they are great the way that all the pictures are pasted together, they are awesome! I didn't know they had schools just for collages though.

I think your talking about a debate, not a debet and your in college not a collage. I would vote no that your not allowed to carry one because text messaging is destroying the ability to spell words correctly and communicate in an understandable fashion.

After the Virginia Tech shootings last year, my school instituted a system whereby they can contact all university students and employees on their cell phones instantly in case of an emergency on campus. That way, students (who might be on their way to class and away from their computers and landline telephones) would know to stay away and could avoid getting caught up in any trouble (which could be something like the shootings, but is more likely to be something like an earthquake creating unsafe conditions here in Southern California).

Well. At my college (local community college) we have a lot of parents whom attend classes. These parents need to be reachable by their children or child care providers in case of emergency. That is nearly impossible with out the use of a mobile device.

Public colleges: Yes, they are adults and should be treated accordingly.

Private colleges: It's up to the college. The kids will know what they are getting into when they sign up.

Yes, they should be able to because some students have lives outside of campus life...such as kids, and work. So yes they should be able to....I am Pro-mobile...
