The Republican Party claims that it is the moral party, which stands for family values. But their words appear to be empty with the number Republican Senators caught up in perverted behavior. Senator Foley is a pedaphile, Senator Larry Craig is a closet homosexual who engages in sex with anonymous men in public restrooms. Senator David Viter is a married man who solicits sex from prostitutes. Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani has been married 3 times, and cheated on his second wife. I am sure that there are more Republican officials who have not yet been caught. My biggest problem with the Republicans is that they are full of hypocrisy.

The problem is that they think they are Christian. If they actually were, they woudn't do a lot of what they do. & the funniest thing is Bush saying God tells him what to do. Just a tad presumptious, don'tcha think??

Searching for the most moral party in politics is like searching for the smartest kid with Down's Syndrome.

The bar is very low.

You are probably right that there are more Republican officials that have not yet been caught, but for the record, many politicians from both sides of the aisle are morally deficient.

All of these things are terribly suspicious, and definitely paint bad images of all these men.

But, I am not sure that isolated acts of immorality can necessarily translate to a person being verifiably Immoral.

Everyone makes mistakes. I just think people should be open-minded in their judgements of all politicians.

For some reason, Republicans always defend Republicans and attack Democrats. Democrats always defend Democrats and attack Republicans. Its like their concept of morality only covers their antagonists.

Every once in a while, some Democrats should call some other Democrat Immoral, and some Republicans should call some other Republican Immoral.

The fact that this never happens should be evidence enough that people hold their own constituents to lesser standards.

People also feel a sort of familial acceptance of their constituents who flounder, and therefore, are more inclined to defend them. They will support their buddies even when their buddies are wrong.

I think your question would be better if you added information that portrays the Democratic Party as more Moral.

You have shown that some Republicans have committed multiple acts of immorality, but come short in showing what makes Democrats any better.

I would argue you that there are a few scumbags in every party, and that if you dig up anyone's past, you will always find dirt.

Ken makes a great point (as do many others here)...when, for example, the whole scene with Bill and Monica went down (so to speak), it was a conspiracy, blown (again, so to speak) out of proportion, who cares, right? The idea of this man engaging in extra-marital affairs in the Oval Office, then lying about it, was no biggie. Still isn't. So here's this guy making gestures in a public restroom, attempting contact with another man. Let's say the guy in the next stall was not a cop. He responds, and they get together. Yeah? How is this different? The bottom line is the same.
I certainly have never claimed to be morally superior. I haven't heard any of my Republican representatives claim moral superiority. This is your interpretation.

When the Republican Party does something 'morally superior' they claim it's the War on Terror, or abolishing abortion, or abolishing gay rights. They seem to think that as long as you uphold the Law, peoples life and liberty don't really matter...

When the Democratic Party does something 'morally superior' they cliam it's better water supply for all Americans. Better and more affordable healthcare, or lower poverty levels. It's all a matter of where your interests are.

'Morality' is a very vague word, it means nothing unless you apply it in the right place. In my opinion, the pagaent of human life, and the sentient individual is far more important then rules, from a moral stand point.

"their words appear to be empty with the number Republican Senators caught up in perverted behavior"

You mean two? In the past year? Two prominent Republicans have been caught doing inappropriate things, and now the entire party's family values platform is in jeapordy?

Give me a freaking break.

I do not think you have to think too hard to come up with a hundred examples to show how morally corrupted the Democrats party in the US is.

A dime a dozen, I tell ya.
And the previous administration is filled with mountains of these corrupt souls.

I find the big difference is that when a Democrat does something immoral it is deemed ok and sometimes rewarded by Liberals. I have read many comments saying things like 'it was only a BJ get over it'. That is the disgusting part that Liberals will permit that activity unless your views are different then theirs. Sounds biggoted to me and thus a lower moral standard.

Does the Republican Party actually CLAIM to be morally superior? I think many Republicans claim to have morals, but that doesn't deny that Democrats can and do have morals too. I don't think it's really part of the national platform - being morally superior...

you are very right. You see republicans can be good, but some of them just appear that way. George Bush started out saying how he was going to change america, and what has he done? nothing, really. Republicans dont have balls to do anything that is not politically correct. whereas democrats do, but they are too liberal, being for abortion and immoral standards that would send all of to hell! so yes, i think our governments is basically screwed!

Truly, most republicans would not claim moral superiority. They are just regular people trying to do their best, no different than most democrats. But a few bad apples do not represent the vast majority of republicans. Sadly, some people just can't keep it in their pants.

But I don't know them, I have never met them, I don't condone their behavior or their hypocrisy regardless of what party they are from. Don't judge me based on their actions.
