You don't say how old you are - it does make a difference.

The bottom line is that we really can't give you the go-ahead for either choice. It has to be what fits you best. But asking for input from others is a good way to help set your priorities, so thanks for the question.

Here are some of the pros/cons - and a few compromises

work - pros
Use your current diploma
Make money - gain independence
Work in a field that interests you

work - cons
You'll be stuck with just the education you have
Make sure the money is worth your time - if you're in a low-wage situation, you'll never gain your independence
It'll be difficult to get additional education because the bulk of your resources will be tied up in living expenses.

School - pros
A field that interests you
augments your current diploma
makes you more employable

School - cons
Debt - lots of it
several more years of depending on others (mostly parents)
It's easy to get distracted and party too much while in Uni.

Compromises (which have their own set of pros/cons, BTW)
some places of work have tuition reimbursement - look into that as one of your priorities
Consider going to school part time and work full time

Couple of things: Either choice you make will be a good choice. Be sure, however, to have clearcut goals in mind first. Don't let others distract you from your dreams (including yourself).

If you want to climb the ladder to success, you must go to University. Getting a job with only a diploma will not take you very far. You need to be armed with a degree for future success in life.

that depends on how hard you want your future to be... why not both?

I've chosen to work the minimum I can, and to take university not so seriously... I'm happy with the way I live...

whatver you choose... do not regret or blame somebody for a life you don't like...
