Regardless of Larry Craig's sexual orientation, is it OK with some people that such an act nearly occurred in a public rest room, as long as the Senator supports "family values?" Is this a good demonstration of "family values?"

TD: But it wasn't secret; it was in a public rest room, where parents and kids could go...

Your question is a good one. No, his behavior was not appropriate. Let's say, he's a homosexual and he was having encounters with men he knew in private, that's more acceptable. If the accusations are true, then this guy was basically looking for sex from strangers in an airport bathroom! Even if he was looking for women, it's still strangers in a bathroom! I wouldn't call those family values in the least.

It is not OK with me that some are trying to excuse the behavior. You women may not be aware of it, but homosexuals in the mens room can be a huge nuisance. They even try to molest kids. In my town, they were using the restroom on a playground! Our mayor, a Democrat, cracked down hard on this illegal behavior and made many similar arrests. Note that the mayor of Minneapolis where this occured is also a Democrat. If you want a politician who will get TOUGH on homosexuals doing perverted things in public places, put a Democrat in charge of it. Anyway, every guy here knows just how NASTY these guys are in the bathroom. They should have their own!!!!

i do not excuse his behavior and it is difficult to understand the urges or what compells a person in public life to think that they are smarter than everyone else and think they can fool the public forever. this does not reflect family values but you cannot hold a group responsible for one person's failure.

it is hypocritical yet we all are subject to it. IE. those that are against abortion but will kill others who perform it; those that believe in freedom of speech, as long as it is speech they agree with; those who say they believe in tolerance yet will not tolerate others for their beliefs.. i.e. Christians v atheists...some of the most vehement speech is in the 'religion and spirituality category', liberals who champion 'alternate lifestyles' yet don't tolerate it from someone on the other side of their political isle. Christians who vehemently protest 'alternate life styles' yet are caught practicing them. the list goes on. my point being that we each need to examine ourselves and look at the dichotomies of our beliefs and redefine them so that they are solidified. it is difficult, for our emotions rather than our intellect usually rules us.

My foot he supported family values. What kind of man solicits sex with another man that he doesn't even know WHILE he's married?!
"I'm not gay!", he says but is willing to play hide the sausage with a stranger and tries to legislate against bills against homosexuality! What a shmuck.

Did you even listen to his side of the story?

He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. He said for eight months, the liberal rags in Idaho had been hounding him and hyping it all up like you are so he wanted to end all the talk and move on.

I didn't see him plead guilty to any lewd sex crime or anything like that.

Is he lying? I don't know. But neither do you, so cut him a break.

That's the difference between the Dems and the Reps.
The Dems asked for more civil rights for the Gays while the Reps prefer to get down and dirty with us homos.

They may say it's not Family Values but right and right, I see more and more Republicans enjoying and practising gay sex.

That's dedication, I tell you.

That's Republican Family values. Act like a harsh family man in public. While doing all your perverted business in secret.

Yes, that is true. Good point.

It is a certain irony that gayness is so reviled in our culture it forces men of poor jusgement to commit acts of lewdness unspeakable, like the catholic priest scandal the last decade.

I am wondering why its illegal to tap your foot in a public restroom. I dont care if anyone is gay and I dont care about gay sex either, but why is it illegal to let someone know you wnat to have sex. Now if He had been cuaght having sex in the bathroom then I could understand the crime.

What he did was un-sanitary and gross. In the bathroom? Gross. He is gay - he has always been gay.
