This youg lady at work told me she likes me and wants to go out with me. I told her I am flattered but much too old for her and not dating right now due to past bad relationships.

We work across the office from each other and when I look up from my work I see her watching me. Of course the more I look the more she looks. It's so funny I had to laugh and now she thinks I was laughing at her.

I am too old for this drama.....I don't want to hurt her feelings. She is a very nice person but I am not looking for love.

I have a tarnished reputation from a couple office affairs in the past. I am looking for the right words to say to discourage her without bruising her feelings and keeping things friendly. I have tried honesty about past relationships and the age difference. Any suggestions?

If you want to do this the nice way, just keep being nice to her and everytime she ask you out or something just nicely tell her you haven't changed your mind but you'd love to be friends....you don't want tension and drama in the work place so just be civil and keep telling her no when she ask you out, i'm sure over time she'll get the point and move on to liking someone else, tell then, be patient and nice.///thats my suggestion.

Yeah..tell her that you have experience that dating someone from the office where you have to work...can lead to tension on the job if it doesn't workout.

So you have a rule when it comes to dating to stay away from those kind of relationships that involves where you work.

Tell her that you think that she is a lovely girl. If you were in the market for a girlfriend you would probably go out with her, but you are not. Tell her you are hoping that this will not interfere with your working relationship, because you think she is a very nice person.

That should do it.

Maybe instead of telling her you are not dating in general, you need to tell her that you do not want to date HER. I know that sounds harsh, but some people just need to be hit right between the eyes or they will never leave you alone.

She might be the type of person who likes the thrill of the chase. So the more you say no the more she wants you. Just act friendly but not too friendly. tell her you don't date co-workers and leave it at that. good luck!!

Are you sure she wants to go out with you? Maybe she's just being friendly. If you are sure, then the best way to handle is to tell the truth. Simple as that. I like to say I'm on sabbatical.

Tell her to give you time to think about it, because you are not ready for another relationship right now. Maybe she will understand.
