YEs,,,ouch, ammonia helps neutralize the sting, as others said, if you can't find ammonia, urine works wonders too, gross but true.
My friends daughter SAT on one, and she had to be taken to the hospital, she was only two years old, and her Dad didn't notice any jellyfish when the went into the water

A lesson learnt! Many people get stung by Jelly Fish but rarely ever get stung again LOL. As you now know, you don't swim when there are Jelly Fish in the area. As for warnings, you won't get any as they would have to close all the beaches and put warnings on them. Jelly Fish are not predictable and can come close to shore anywhere. The other one to watch for is the Sea Anenamae, like Jelly Fish, they also sting.

Heck, often those come into areas without warnings! Nobody is to blame for that. Mine happened in a pier
A little pee right on it numbs the pain, if you aren't carrying ammonia with you. That is because the base neutralizes the acidity of the sting...

My cousin was stung by a weever fish; apparently it was quite painful. The lifeguards put her fot in boiling water and told her to walk about; then it was ok :)

I was in turkey and a friend got stung... She had to pee on it :P Apparently it helped though!!
