This is a classic tactic used to deceive an adversary, and the US is taking the bait. It seems as though Al-Sadr might be planning a coup d' etat in the near future. The Shi'a militia is only biding its time.

Anyhow, the only real surge that seems to be working is the surge of propaganda, half-truths, and spin coming out of the collective mouths' of the Bush adminstration. For that, I am not happy the least bit.

The surge has been working since it was put in place, it will now show the people of Iraq and the government there that they can make the necessary changes in leadership to ensure the successes on the military side translate to the political side with no leaderships in Iraq.

I would actually love to really know how things are going over there. We have Bush giving the same lines over and over and doing his best to blame any problems on the Democrats, and we have some on the other side saying it's not working and it's a disaster.

I suppose that the status of any war can not be properly determined until it is over but there has to be a better way.

What a religion, where clerics have private armies and attack each other over sectoral differences.
At the rate they are killing each other,Sunni vs. Shite, they'll soon run out of fighters and have to start talking to each other.

That hasn't seemed to stop anyone. The deaths in Baghdad are the same they were a year ago and the deaths outside of Baghdad have doubled.

That is not my definition of success! All it has done is move them out of Baghdad!

You still can't walk on the streets!

We'll see. I'm willing to give it a shot, but I don't have my hopes up. The administration has proven to be militarily incompetent so far. I'll have to see real, permanent results before I change my mind about it, and even then I will think the war was illegal to begin with.

And what happens if the American occupiers leave? Yes, I am happy. Things are just ticketyboo, but Let's have a draft and have even a bigger surge!

They're waiting out the 'surge'. When it's over, they'll be back.
