so what we are asking for a handout did you see on the media how they had dead people line up in the heat on the streets while we were stuck down there for 5 days bodies floating in the water and people like you have something stupid to say like( that's our fault we should have left) well the media didt'n tell you how hotels were already book intexas 3 days before the storm nor in mississippi nor alabama ,,, so people went to the superdome,, now i jkn ow the media showed black people stealing jewelry piano and ****,, ( i myslef was like what in the **** was they going to do with thatstealing food , clothes and shoes ,, was ok in my eyes no body wants to stay in wet nasty clothes that they habd on for2 to 3 days not knowing what was going on,,, but that they are stuck in heat

and people getting rape and dying all around them and then the bodies are left there to smell and we have to deal with it,,, we were hungry, tire, hot and frustrate and not anyone did a damn thing about itpeople who were able to leave left and people who were not didt'n some people stayed for their family members ,,some people stayed cause the didt'n have the money to leave bottom line is this nobody should'tn have to go through something like that,, not even my worst enmey.. i wouldt'n wish this on no one.i blame our state gorvemnt and our u.s gorverment. for some reason my instint tells me that if we were an upper class city with mostely white we would have gotten a different response. when i stuck down there they had so my races down there and this white stood next to me and cry and said this is sad our own presidnent do this to his own country,, but instead he got billions and billions of dollars to spend on a war,, he could go run to the tusami people within the next dat but took

when you pay insurance for years and years and soon as you be late on your insurance or something it's a problem but it's not a problem when the insurance companies take their time giving you ur money and the money you paid over the years you think ok well my house is gone my insurance going to pay for it ,, yeah right they dont even give you your money worth that's why so many of them getting suede,, i think it's very stupid what you have to say when you dont know what you are talking about are when u dont educate yourself.

i personally think people who wasn't down there or live there should not voice their nasty opinions on how we live before the storm or it's our fault ,, shut the hell up,, you did'tn have to experince what we had to experince,, you didn't have to see the dead bodies,, feel the 110 degree heat,, feel the hungryness in your stomach,, or have to worry where you love one was at. you didn't ahve to make a decison on how you suppose to save the 23 children and mother

i wish people stop comparing other hurricane to katrina ,, becaus ekatrina is now known,, being wriiten in the new history books,, to be the most devastating , worst hurricane to hit this country.

katrina made new history i dont know why people are comparing others to this one,,, i'm not moving back to new for alot of reason i just want america to know that not everyone is like how the media is trying to put us. mother nature is one thing but it has been proven the corps of enginers had done a bad job on the levy's and we been asking for decades assitance to get the levy's stronger,,, if something was said or done(alot of people agreed with me on this one) the could have tooken out taxes for it the tax us for everything else ,,, why not tax us so we can gain money to build better levy's

I read your rant and this is what I know. If Nagan had asked for help sooner things would have probably not been as bad, so don't go blaming all of this totally on the government. Yes I am sorry it happened but when are the citizens of New Orleans going to take action themselves and help themselves?
I and millions of others donated money and do you know where that money went????? Vacations, divorces, jewelry, expensive hotels etc....that's the very reason why people are wary of helping out anymore because all that money was wasted!!!!!!!!!

I'm so so so so sorry you and other people had to experience such a disaster. You have experienced...practically the same mortality of the slave ship. You were all sitting around in the heat against each other like sardines, scared, hungry, and tired...I'm so....so sorry. I watched the news every-single-day to keep up with the Katrina victims. :(

I wrote a scholarship paper on racism in America and I listed the Katrina victims as an example because FEMA was well known for responding to disasters that occur in the US, but it took them 3-5 days for them to respond to you all, the Katrina victims. If I had the opportunity and resources you all would not have been down there for so long. This probably means nothing now, but there are people out here who care.
---
Mrs. M I don't see him/her blaming people for an 'act of God', but more so the response of government. There is so much money in this country, it did NOT make any sense for them to be down there that long. Organizations were making money off the Katrina victims instead of trying to help them. I guess ignorance is bliss for some of you people.
---
Did you people even read the post? She wasn't asking for anything...The very thing that you guys are accusing her/him of is what s/he's talking about.
---

OH MY GOD! DELETE THIS QUESTION. UNFORTUNATELY, YOU CAN NOT TALK ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT WHILE BEING BLACK & POOR BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY WHITE PPL AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME YOU ARE ASKING FOR A GOTDAMN HANDOUT. FORGET WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU AND THE KATRINA VICTIMS. AS LONG AS YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON THEN THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE, DELETE THIS QUESTION. I ADVISE YOU TO NEVER GO BACK TO NEW ORLEANS. BLACKS WERE THE CULTURE, THE MUSIC, THE MONEY, THE GREAT VACATIONS, ETC. WITHOUT YOU THERE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE A NEW ORLEANS. STAY BLESSED!!! LET THEM HAVE IT SO THEY CAN BUILD THEIR $300,000 HOMES AND NEIGHBORHOODS. F!CK 'EM! GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, MEANWHILE THINK POSITIVE. I'M TIRED....TODAY IS NOT MY DAY.

Regardless of what you see on the news,New Orleans wasnt the only city devasted by hurricane Katrina. Biloxi was destroyed and you dont see them asking for handouts. They went home, started to clean up and started to rebuild. No press,no government assistance, they did it on their own.On another note,it wasnt the hurricane that destroyed New Orleans,it was the following flood caused by the levee breaking. The reason they broke was because of spending the Billions of tax payer dollars that had been given to the city to maintain and repair the levees over the last 30-40yrs, the corrupt politicians that ran the city either pocketed the money or used it on special intrest group to insure they remained in office. These are the same corrupt politicians the the people of New Orleans re elected into office following the floods,so I say why should we give you more money, rebuild on your own like the rest of the Gulf Coast, and if you dont want to rebuild then relocate and start over. Its been two years and there are still refugees(yeah I said refugee, look it up in the dictionary, its what they are) in Houston expecting to get hand outs, free rent, gorceries, dang get a job, start over.I for one am tired of helping people who wont help themselves.

Okay, stop the whining!!! I ran out of sypathy long ago. My friends and I were told to leave St John Parish long before the storm arrived....and dammit, we were catching fish!! We volunteered to use our boats to help get you idiots off your rooftops a few days later....Sheriff said stay away.
1) You were under a MANDATORY evacuation order....why did you stay? Needed a new TV and a couple pairs of Nikes?
2) As soon as the storm passed, people started acting like wild beasts with no regard for law and order. Dont you think you should have waited a few days at least to show your @sses?
3) FRAUD!!! Yes, lots of it. I saw people at the ATM machines in the casinos cashing their Red Cross and FEMA cards to gamble the money meant for food, shelter, and clothing.
4) I am still, two years to the day later, processing fraud cases for abusing food stamps and cash benefits.

We the American tax paying citizens owe you NOTHING!!!!! If you havent found a job after 2 years it is because you are LAZY. Mcdonalds is starting people around N.O. at $10 an hour.....and cant find help. Ive seen help wanted signs all over the state for the last two years. Stop whining and do something for yourself, I for one am completely out of sympathy for those who chose to sit on their @sses and have America support them. Its been two years!!!! Get over the victim mentality and get off your @ss and do something instead of ***** and whine.

Im sick of the bleeding heart liberals pandering to a bunch of lazy whiners. If you still consider yourself a victim, you are only a victim of your own laziness.

**EDIT--to the poster above me...heres some nice facts for you. When the "victims" were all away from New Orleans, the crime rate went to almost ZERO. While the city was nearly all white, there were no murders and very little other violent crimes. In the meantime, the "victims" caused a major spike in the crime rates of Houston, Atlanta, Baton Rouge and every other city that took them in. Now that Mayor Naqin has his "chocolate city" back....the crime rate is incredibly high. There is an average of at least one murder per day and climbing.

Oh yeah, the Government and Bush hate blacks and its all their fault....yada yada. What a load of crap....take responsibility for your own lives and do something other than beg. How many places other than "chocolate city" need the national guard 2 years after a disaster? You make your bed, sleep in it and stop whining.

I don't think anything you just said. I feel very sorry for you and everyone down there and the majority of the blame is on the government. What I do think is you shouldn't be rebuilding. THE CITY IS A BOWL!!! DON'T F*** WITH MOTHER NATURE!!!

The fact that you or anyone else blames our government (local or national) for an act of God is beyond my scope of reason.

When people congregate at or below sea level there is a certain amount of risk involved when heavy rains fall.
