I need to lose some weight and tone up. I'm thinking about swimming. I know I'll float really good!

I wish I did but I don't because we are running behind in money right now haha. I think I will start-up sometime soon though. It is amazingly healthy for you and it great exercise because it puts no strain on any of your body parts because you are floating in water. Unlike running or jogging, you are putting strain on your feet and your ankles so swimming is a great exercise! Go for it, it will benefit you!

Goodluck!

Yes, swimming is a cardiovascular excercise, which means that it uses most of your body's main muscles. So it's a good full body workout! I know for a fact that my good friend lost about 5kg in a month just by swimming regularly for about an hour and a half a day. Also, check out this link about the benefits of swimming! http://swimming.about.com/od/swimworkouts/a/swim_benefit.htm

I do, I love to swim and we have a very fine YWCA here that I sometime help out with the Senior Program(I'm one). Swimming releases stress, increases your cardio vascular, loosens you up and takes away the stiffness and it also helps you loose weight. Half hour min. Please everyone go swimming, there are special programs and times for Seniors!

I love to swim, I used to snorkel, but have not been swimming in years. I've been thinking next summer I will take up a aqua-aerobics class.

I know everyone tells you how good swimming is for you, but that's only true if you WORK at it and most people don't.
Try walking fast and then interspersing that with jogging. If like me you hate both get a bike and spin with high revs NOT high gears.
