Who's going to come out on top of the NL Central? And, do they have a fighting chance in the playoffs?

Go Cubbies!!

I believe it will come down to the final week of the season for a division winner. The Cubs finish with six games at home against the Marlins and the Reds, the Cardinals finish with seven games at home against the Brewers, Mets, and Pirates, while the Brewers finish with seven on the road against the Cardinals and the Padres. The schedule definitely favors the Cubs and I pick them to win the division. Once they get to the playoffs and if they can get on a roll and their pitching holds up, they would have a chance to win it all.

I would have to say that the Cubs will win it. The schedule is in their favor, the Brewers are showing that they are still a young team that is not accostomed to the pressure, the Cardinals have to have too great of a run to make it happen where as the Cubs just have to kepp on keeping on. The Cubs in the playoffs is very interesting, they can score runs in bunches and they have good starting pitching, their mid relief is what would concern me but they seem to be holding together enough right now. I think with a real manager now and a good enough team they could go deep.

The cubs have got to be in the strongest position right now, especially with just getting Soriano back and having a 2 game division lead. As for the playoffs, they may not be looking too good, but last year the cardinals won it with only 83 regular season wins, and if Zambrano, Lilly, and Hill pitch as well as they have for much of the season, the Cubbies have a chance to do something in October.

On paper it would appear to be Chicago, but they are the CUBS! History says they will find a way to lose, despite being the most balanced of the contenders.

The Brewers and Cards both get big name pitchers back this week, so that will help. I still think the Brewers will crumble do to the lack of experience.

If you believe in the "baseball gods" than you have to say STL. In baseball you always seem to pay for not capitalizing when you should. If you strand a runner at third with nobody out, you will lose. Walk the pitcher, you will give up a run.

Let the Cards hang around too long, you will lose the division to them.

The Cards have no business being this close, but they are. WIth Mulder back, Ankiels boost, and the vast playoff experience (plus LaRussa), I'd bet on them to find a way.

I'm going to say the Cardinals come back and nab the division away from the Cubs while the Brewers fall out of contention. Whoever wins has a shot,as the Cardinals proved last year.

The Cards are hot right now, so I am going with them. I think the Cubs are going to fade and the Brewers just up and quit. But no team from this division will win it all.
