Well, I imagine that would differ based on the individual and where they place their sense of value (outward, or inward).
Being a female, would you be sensitive if you were going bald?
edit: I have to admit. I felt inclined to go to the mirror and check my hairline after reading this question, : )

Guys view balding in the same way girls view getting fat. Women are always striving for the perfect body so why should guys be different? My 17 year old son is loosing his hair and he is devastated. Teenage girls do not like boys who are going bald. No matter what they say.

Hmm...not sure exactly: I've always hated my hair, and try to keep it as short a humanly possible; I'd love to be bald (but every time I get my hair cut, it just grows back that much faster).
: )

It's a guy thing..Would you like to lose your hair ? It defines you..unless you are sick..Hair is the glue on your head that you can change..I don't wear make up and don't want to..I say this cos I'm follicly unchallenged...

Seriously - just go bald. Do you think you fool us with toupees and comb-overs?

it's probably an evolutionary archetype of verility...strength, etc..
We all know how man's hair has been lionized in mythology...sampson's hair for a prime example.
